Being on HackForums these past months I have noticed that the number of topics created in the Lounge the general trend towards both E-Books and certain services (paid) tend to be untrustworthy with many users saying that they don’t trust both e-books and the vouches as well as the increasing number of scam reports.
Well, I have a part solution for that – last night I was thinking about a possibility of a Community Selected Body of Reviewers. Hear me out:

Who these people are:

The C.S.B.R’s are a group of members on HackForums consisting of both UB3Rs|L33ts|Regulars. These members would be community chosen via votes and via a trial + the old members of the group. Each C.S.B.R member will go through a set-up trial (At ANY point in their lives. This could mean before their application or even after). This test would be set up by a group of people (2/3) who would post an EBook (That is not true and does not work) and attempt to bribe or in some way get the C.S.B.R to post a good review about them.

If the C.S.B.R agrees with the decoy then they are no longer allowed to enter the C.S.B.Rs for 1 year (Not allowed to enter the voting phase + they will be removed from active duty and replaced by another voted member who has passed the decoy test) – Of course these decoy tests don’t have to be just about Ebooks (I have a few ideas in my head) – These tests are there to prove both the truthfulness of the C.S.B.R and the trustworthiness.
Members who pass the decoy test (by either refusing or correctly reporting the post) will be accepted into the “Voting Process” – the voting process happens every 3 months for members of C.S.B.R and every 6 months for the leader.

All contestants will have to submit a few reviews about already approved Ebooks as well as have a good history of grammar and spelling (etc.) they must not have any scam reports or anything of that kind. These will then be narrowed down (by the previous members of the C.S.B.R ground and the leader) to a select few (25-50) who will then enter the public voting phrase. The public voting phrase is simple, a thread is set up with all the contestants and their review entries (Their name will be undisclosed) and instead be replaced by numbers with the reviews next to those numbers. This will stop any chance of bribery and other wrong doings since the public do not know who is behind the posts.

If this is getting too confusing for you, I will create a chart at the bottom.

The 12 winners (4 UB3R’s – 4 L33t’s – 4 Regulars) will then be placed into the group and each assigned tasks every week by the group leader.

The election for the group leader follows a slight different path. Existing members of C.S.R.B or previous members are allowed to enter themselves into the special 6 month voting phrase. This voting phrase is open to the public + the existing members. However, the existing members are allowed to choose their favourite leader (who they think did the best job of both managing the group and supporting it) and combining with the public votes the group leader is decided. The group leader’s job involves a number of different aspects such as:

• Reviewing the applicants for the voting process
  


• Assigning threads to the reviewers
  


• Checking the reviewers work
  


• Feeding back to Omni on the stats (example: 46 Approved


• Marketplace items. 12 Disapproved, but after a change approved.


• 4 Banned due to invalid|inactive method) and so on.

Posting a new marketplace item.

Unlike the current system. Your marketplace item will go through “3-Phases”

1) Initial review of profit (EBook’s|Programs) this includes the OP having to show the site that he/she uses as well as the proof of earnings over either Skype desktop viewer or teamviewer. (For things like PPD – the OP has to show the site that he has made or statistics from the official PPD company) this stops the threat of mislead EBooks. As well as this, other programs which are not for profit will be reviewed for:

- Malware (Deep search by MRT team or (a specific virus team))
- Effectiveness and Proof (For example, for an SMS bomber to be accepted the OP has to spam one of the reviewers phones or something like that.) (Or for a DDOS website to be approved he/she needs to take down a custom built site)

Time taken: 1-2 Days

2) After this, an official review by the C.S.R.B team. This allows the sale of the product. The C.S.B.R will be actually using the method. For example, if it’s an EBOOK detailing on how to earn money via surveys. The C.S.R.B under the guidance of the OP will follow the steps to see if he/she can recreate the same method written in the ebook. This Is an additional protection.

Once the C.S.B.R has written a full review on the product along with things like how long it took them to achieve a certain money goal or how much effort did they put in. How much investment etc. Then the product is allowed to be sold.

Time Taken: Depending on the method.

3) A small selection of customers to be interviewed by the C.S.B.R after several days following their purchase of the program. They will ask questions like “Did it work for you” “How much did you earn” etc. They will have to show proof of earnings (Like in step 1)
After a few have been interviewed the EBOOK is allowed to do its own thing. There can be an option on the thread to have it “Re Checked” (if enough user’s thing it should be re checked)

Why this method?

Using this method. I think that we can make the HF marketplace a safer place and reduce the amount of scam reports. Using this method, buyers will have a “Guarantee” that this EBOOK or Program will work (To a certain extent) and this eliminates the atmosphere surrounding the EBOOK and the Premium marketplace.
This system is also fair and tries to avoid things like voting for your friends etc.

I don't understand why once a week someone always comes out with the same idea, Its been proposed before and denied not to mention there will always be corruption specially when talking about a body of members whom you've never met or seen before.

However i did like the effort you put in the draft, Can i ask what program you used for that?

We used to have an official group just for reviewing premium ebooks but omni disbanded them. I doubt this will be implemented especially since it's community selected. People would just get their friends to review their ebook.

The Reviewers, but in the end they were closed down too, just as well as the Scammer Clean Up Crew. These groups are not sustainable and caused many problems to arrive. Adding red tape and bureaucracy like you want isn't going to help.

Go ahead and make an unofficial group or whatever, but keep in mind most if not all people will not take it seriously. There was a reviewers group before but those days are over.

Also, Staff doesn't get involved, as HF doesn't endorse the trades floating around here.

Would be denied. Unfortunately, there isn't a solution to low quality trading in the Marketplace.

Unfortunately having a unofficial group can still cause problems, corruption for one. You can control a thread to determine if the product is legitimate or useless.

Yes it will still cause problems, but I've said that people will not take it seriously, since it is an unofficial group. Unofficial groups usually don't start out big nor do they last long either.

I'm sorry, but we had a reviewers group similar to what you're suggesting before. Unfortunately serious issues ended up with the group being closed. I don't see Omni wanting another official group for this again.
