I know the Malware, Virus, and Rat Removal Help by MRT forum is supposed to have restrictive posting to only MRT members and the original posters of respective threads. Is there an ETA on this feature, or has it been put on the backburner for now?
I just reported a large swathe of posts from people posting in threads when they should not be, and it's irritating not just for the MRT but for the victim when they receive misinformation or make things problematic for the MRT to do their job.

The people are told in that section not to listen to anyone else other than MRT members, The reporting should be fine and paradoxum will clean up.
"only MRT helpers are allowed to offer assistance since malware removal requires proper training which our graduates are guaranteed to have undergone"
I'm conflicted on how to approach this.
I know a solution;
Approval system
Have threads approved by the section moderator or any staff member before they are posted?
Like when someone creates a thread it will show a message:
"Thank you. A staff member will look at your post shortly and if needed approve it."
No cleaning up of a mess afterwards!

The same way you did with the "Reputation Abuse" Forum that was modded by Judge Dredd.
No one could see other topics except their own. Make the forum moderators Staff/Mentors and
Group Leaders/Helpers. o_o
-Viral.

As it is reserved for the MRT, it should surely be up to them to respond to inquiries.
Well, an good solution in my opinion is:
Restrict members to create threads (others won't be able to reply unless they are OP or MRT) and only OPs and MRT members can reply. If you are not OP or MRT, you cannot/don't have permission to post.

Sounds like a pretty good idea here. I like it.

This is a good idea, I've thought about it myself before. I don't know why it hasn't already happened

You can only see your own threads, preventing others from posting in places they should not be. You can restrict the visibility of forums to usergroups already; you would just need to specify the MRT. It might seem arbitrary, but plausible.
Edit: Just read Viral's post. Pretty much the same thing though. To add to what he said, you would simply restrict the forum to MRT usergroup members. They do not all need to be moderators of the forum; Paradoxum and Viral as staff can probably manage the forum effectively without the need for a mod.

Arbitrary or not, it'd be clean and better addressed, which is never bad on a massive-scale forum. Good idea(s) 🎉

The hidden forum mentioned by Viral would be the perfect solution. I think in some cases when people are trying to get help, they get no response for a while. So other members jump in too assist, even though it's against the rules.
Limiting the viewing of this forum would solve that.
Bringing this up again because it's still a relevant issue.
Like I suggested, restricting the visibility of threads within the MRT forum to only a user's own threads (as with the Reputation Abuse Forum) is the easiest way to solve this problem. Not only will it prevent other users from posting on threads they should not be, it also prevents users from viewing details or information about another user's computer.
Say User A wants to find out some information on User B because A doesn't like B. He knows B had a virus on his computer a month ago; A finds B's thread in the MRT subforum and gets a lot of information including his Operating System, current status of Malware Protection (from the MalwareBytes log), and other system information from the PrivatePastes (by default, users are instructed to set a 1 week expiry time to these PrivatePastes, but 2 of the 3 I looked at briefly had not expired after a week.) This opens up a world of possibilities for exploits or possible attacks on user B by user A.
Restricting posts also reduces clutter and allows the MRT (Paradoxum and ven0m) to do their job more effectively, without having to worry about warning users who are violating the rules or doing things they should not be doing.
Thoughts?

Totally agree with this suggestion. I suggested it back in the days, but it was closed and I've been told it was between the MRT and you Omni 😟 I try to PM members I see posting in the MRT section a lot and tell that only MRT members are allowed to give assistance there, but it's not enough apparently. Same when I see someone posting a thread and doesn't provide logs. I PM them asking them to read the thread and provide the logs if they want to receive assistance.
Also, here :
MRT Queries by ven0m
I know no one will probably read ven0m's thread, but he's doing what he can to pass the message.
This is the thread I posted back then, not exactly the same thing, but in the end, aiming for the same result, to keep anyone who's not part of the MRT out of this section to give assistance :
Modify the last part of the MRT subsection description by Aurа
Fiat justitia ruat cælum
My era of providing technical support and malware removal on HackForums is over, so you can stop PM'ing me about it. Sorry.
It will be like the Practice Log sub-forum of the Malware Removal Team. But if Omniscient does this to a public forum, he may have problems regarding SEO. I think a public forum with permission that user can reply to their own thread will suffice. This is how most of the Malware Removal forums provide assistance.
