Even when zipping the files the media files still won't show up not even the zip file. Why do these not cross over and restore with the OS. We are taking out the HD and putting it into a dock with win 7, moving the files over to the HD, placing the HD back into win 8.1 computer and they poof. Any ideas? 🤩

I don't understand what you're trying to do here. You got two hard drives on 2 different pcs, one with win 7 and another one with win 8 and when you plug tthe win 7 hard drive and try to read it from win 8 computer you can't ?

You need to be more specific. I especially don't understand what you mean by "placing the hd back into 8.1 computer" ?

Basically, we are doing a data transfer and any new files/folders do not transfer over once put back into the 7 computer.

Yeah I got the part where you try to transfer datas.

But I still don't know if you have 2 computers, or 2 hard drives with a different windows version on each. I still don't know how you proceed, if you got 2 hard drives, you plug in the one with the datas and nothing shows up...

Also have you tried just copying some files on usb stick just to test ?
