The most powerful I have heard of is the Titan X. Is this the most powerful there is? Are there GPUs that the government uses yet have not been available to us? What is the best one on the market right now?

What is the best one on the market right now? It depends what you mean by powerful...... There are different GPUs for other tasks the ones you hear about most are for "gaming" that are mainstream like Titan X or fury x ect. there are cards like: http://www.nvidia.ca/object/tesla-servers.html http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/S...CatId=8754 http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/S...7&CatId=28 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/amd-video-card-100505884 http://pcpartpicker.com/part/pny-video-card-vcqm6000pb But for gaming the 980Ti / Titan X/ Fury X are the top lines.

'gpu's that the government has and isnt sharing'. Firstly you need to consider your terminology. GPU is intended for graphical work, I dont know why the government is keeping their graphical powerhouses a secret. Maybe you mean CPU's / ASIC/ FPGA designed for breaking passwords or other naughty things. Then yes you can rest assured there are plenty of secret processing units in the hands of the NSA and other government agencies.

C'mon now even the government needs to max out Crysis 3 every once in awhile. /s ![]() (Jul 29, 2015 01:04 PM)Gt403cyl Wrote: It depends what you mean by powerful...... The 2 TigerDirect links are for the graphic cards that are for the Proliant servers. That's a very limited market.

Forget the benchmarks and paper. Real world performance shows that the STRIX and MSI 980 Ti's beat out the Titan X in real world performance thanks to greater overclocks achieved through a better cooling system. What you'll notice is that all Titan X's for the moment are stuck with the single rear-blower style reference cooler which sucks for overclocking. Besides, even reference to reference the difference between the 980 Ti and Titan X is 10%, yet the price difference is over $500AUD. Unjustifiable, that extra $500 will get you another half of a second 980 Ti.
Then there's the Titan Z, which nobody gives two flying shits about.
the 2 most powerful GPUs on the market are the 980Ti and the Titan X. however. even though the Titan X may be advertised as the most powerful GPU, the 2 of them are identical except for the Titan X has a slightly hight clock speed i think and it costs like $500 more than the 980Ti. but other than that they are the same
