I've kept this in myself so for a such long time hoping someone else will use common sense because I dont normally post here or post anything like this. Why the fuck you +rep new members who post in this section saying they cant post in Marketplace? You're basically making forum rules look retarded. There's a reason new members cant post in marketplace, a REASON, and it's quite simple one, to prevent any random Joe in scamming people just because you gave them a +rep.
I could link to shit ton of threads but I'm sure those who read this will find themselves in my words and stop with it already, you aint no Robin Hood of Hackforums if you "help" a new member use marketplace. Recently this happened.
- https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5157240 (It's junked now lol)
It's this guy - https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?ti...id49672575
He got a +rep to post in Marketplace selling PayPal cash card, and even offers to pay for it. For us who are here for longer amount of time we know this is bullshit, but what about others, what about new members who see such good opportunity thinking "wow this looks good, imma go and grab it"? You basically LET THEM do it, then scam occurs, then disputes, then Omni closes whole CE section, then HF looks like a scam playground. This is a serious issue with mindset of upgraded users here, there's ton of other ways to help community, you're just making us all look like idiots by helping those who ARE NOT ALLOWED in marketplace, rules says that, not me. They hook you up with a nice story like "i want to offer something good", and then they scam, I'd fucking close not only scammers account but those who +repped them as well.
Or this too - https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=5153666
See. he asked why, got rep, probably tried doing shit but someone stopped him and then he never came back online?
Will you start using fucking common sense and stop +repping new members who make up stories how they cant use marketplace? It's not the majority of scams from normal member, but you can never know what happens when 2 normal members make a deal, hence the reason NEW members cant use marketplace, it's for their own safety and safety of others. Jesus fucking christ, fucking stone age thinking, you're ruining it for all of us.

TL:DR Thanks to Jim Crow.

This thread has my seal of approval.
You've put a very sensible point OP, I hate it when people rep new members when they post threads, either positive or negative. They can't post in marketplace? Its for a reason like you mentioned.
Some things on HF need to stop, this is one of them.
I won't say I have never given a reputation point to a new member but certainly I agree in all of your points here.
Let me propose an idea.
What if Omniscient made the marketplace only accessible to the accounts that have +rep && at the same time at least 1 week old
-OR-
What if Omniscient made the marketplace ONLY VIEWABLE for the accounts that are < 1 week && have 0 or minus reputation?

Instead of adding more restrictions, can't we just stop being a little stupid for a change? 🙂

What if Omniscient made the marketplace ONLY VIEWABLE for the accounts that are < 1 week && have 0 or minus reputation? So, you have to be more than a week old and have +REP to post in the market place. E Z.
so true. That pisses me off, like why the fuck does a brand new member have 14rep because they posted a thread asking how to get rep...BS people who promote that are fucking stupid
Every member is going to get rep at some point. It doesn't matter whether it's the day they signed up or one month after signing up, they're gonna get it.
I couldn't agree more with this post. It's a flawed and unfortunate system. New users avoid being high quality and making helpful posts to earn rep, instead they ask why they can't post and someone reps them. They know they can get away with it too.
Staff will never reach out to you off-site. We only communicate on HF.
That's why we should completely remove the custom message reputation system and keep a few pre-made onces. So if a new user gets repped for "Thanks for your vouch" but they haven't vouched anything, you know it's fake.
Ub3rs get seen as the bad guys when they use their daily reputation to offset these charity positive reps too.
It's quite sad, I pulled out of caring about this shit years ago. Everyone just white knights.
Honestly i think there should be some kind of punishment for giving rep like that. Should be able to report rep like this and then Omniscient or another Admin should -10 them fuckers. Fuck this pisses me off big time!

And 99% of them are multi-accounting.

Let me explain why I proposed this idea.
@Mr KEWL, I know it doesn't sound right to restrict things more but you know that it's a lot easier / faster to do this rather than telling to the whole forum that they should not spread positive reputation points to every random member.
So, the whole concept behind this idea:
One would only be eligible to use the marketplace if he is at least 1 week old in the forum (therefore; he has read the rules, HF docs, knows where to search && what, etc, meet the other members, engage, contribute, etc)
Why I say that? It's called hackforums. I guess the forum is mainly focused on technology and not in markets.. but since Omniscient has added marketplace in the forum he could make it available only for those who deserve it (at least a week old, positive rep).
This would prevent scammers from multi-accounting or at least discourage them somehow since they would be required to have positive reputation score & be at least a week old in the forum one each account. Plus, that all the others (we, you, everyone) would be getting to know more about them from the way they post / hunt for REP and maybe help the staff to identify multi-accounters/scammers.
That's just my opinion. What do you guys think? 🤝

This is like one of the most important things to stop for good, it's been happening for quite some time now, holding the bag or robbing the bank in this case is pretty much the same. Shit ton of members with 1 random rep sell gift cards, they wont scam people who have common sense, but they'll scam someone who joined let's say yesterday, he still has no idea how HF works, and does he deserve to get scammed the other day because he trusted someone who can post in Marketplace? I know all deals are at your own risk and all that stuff, but jeez none read complete Help Docs on their first day, let's be real for a second, it's their fault if they get scammed but it can easily be prevented, and only mistake in this equation is community itself, stop +repping idiots who ask why they cant post, SIMPLE AS FUCKING THAT.

There are many more people like you who gave rep to new members, can you englighten us and tell us why? I mean what's the fucking point in giving a rep to someone who says he CANT POST in marketplace, what's the point I just dont get it.
Your ideas would ruin the marketplace completely, they should be allowed in marketplace, but they shouldnt be able to post, hence none will PM them, they'll have to find people and all those people are upgraded and have common sense(at least I believe they do).

True but they wont get it after asking for it. And honestly, if they were to scam, would they wait a month to get rep? Think logically for a second, please.

No, I did not mean that I have repped people for not being able to access the marketplace. I was talking generally about giving reputation to a new member.
There are some new members that deserved it.. but I never repped anyone with +3 but with +1 and in the mean time I'm increasing it if I see that they are HQ.
