I would not have a problem with restricting the marketplace to upgraded members only.
I think it's better for the safety of the forum.

Why make all this effort to protect the market place when some jackass can easily circumvent by making a Quick Thread hinting they need rep? Exactly my point. That would ruin the marketplace though, none says they aint allowed, but they certainly cant make threads or reply. Thank you, seems as if I didnt explain very well, I've even added your quote in OP.

I agree with you, as I've seen this type of stuff happen, and it always seems to work out for the user posting the thread most of the time, and it's so bullshit.

This is the least likely thing to happen, market place brings in membership, and membership drives the community. The forum equation is not fucking rocket science, Omni says it all the time, posts drive the community.
I can't disagree however if you go to deal disputes section you will that there are basically none disputes against those "new accounts with 1 rep" lol.
We should believe in people, let's not make us look like we're all going to get scammed just because new users can post in marketplace. Volenti non fit injuria. Thats partly because 2 regulars cant post in DD? Anyway you're missing the point, this isnt about scamming but those who rep such people for no apparent reason. Well, fair enough, members shouldn't get +rep just because they make a thread about it.
Couldn't agree more.
This is pretty much the same thing as needing prestige to post in Innuendo or SRPP. There is a REASON why you can't post there that's been made very evident and clear. I mean think about it. (to the members who do +rep the ones trying to post in the marketplace) This is your community, why would you want to add to the potential of scams by doing this? This is YOUR community. By positive repping these new members asking for it you're pretty much enabling them to scam if that's their intent and ultimately if someone gets scammed because of it, it should be your fault in a way. I know Omni got rid of the rep abuse system a long time ago but it would absolutely help to be re-implemented and used to counteract these situations. Shit, I would be down to handle that. I hate seeing members get scammed and if there's something I can do to stop it then obviously I would. I don't know, just a thought I guess Omni. :P Anyway, great thread, you brought some very valid points up.
Yep this makes perfect sense.
I've seen reps after someone has posted in the lounge "+1/3 now you can post in the marketplace :)" I mean how fucking dumb have you got to be. Didn't even consider this being a good enough thread until now. Kudos OP. NEW TV AND STREAMING GUIDES COMING SOON!
