Lovely★Complex

Synopsis (Courtesy of MAL):
Spoiler (Click to View)Love is unusual for Koizumi Risa and Ootani Atsushi, who are both striving to find their ideal partner in high school—172 cm tall Koizumi is much taller than the average girl, and Ootani is much shorter than the average guy at 156 cm. To add to their plights, their crushes fall in love with each other, leaving Koizumi and Ootani comically flustered and heartbroken. To make matters worse, they're even labeled as a comedy duo by their homeroom teacher due to their personalities and the stark difference in their heights, and their classmates even think of their arguments as sketches.

Lovely★Complex follows Koizumi and Ootani as they encourage each other in finding love and become close friends. Apart from their ridiculous antics, they soon find out an unexpected similarity in their music and fashion tastes. Maybe they possess a chemistry yet unknown, but could love ever bloom between the mismatched pair?

An interesting take on typical high school relationships, Lovely Complex (LoveCom for short) does a exceptional job conveying the story and emotions of its characters. The plot concerns itself with a simple HS romance with all its emotions and quirks, however with a twist: the girl happens to be very much taller to the boy she loves. Despite being episodic however, the story does well to progress the series, especially with a few moments of irritation to the audience waiting for an expected scene. The art is average however it is not a nuisance, and the soundtrack is pretty nice.

The anime's strongest point would have to be its characters. While we really only see the perspective of Koizumi (the female MC) and not as much from Otani (the male MC), all the characters receive a good amount of attention. The side characters are also especially important in furthering the plot and some side laughs.

Admittedly the first 15-16 episodes I found myself to be cringing, as I do not watch HS romcom anime that often (especially being many years after HS lol). However I will say pushing through it and the build up to the remainder of the series was worth it. Overall it was a decently enjoyable, and I do recommend this for anyone who hasn't seen it yet ;)

Also, as a side note: If you guys ever wanted to make a drinking game out of this anime, drink every time someone says "baka." That'll make your night ;)

Ye I decided to sit and binge it. Was a bit cringy at first since it was very much a HS anime, however after the first 15 eps it got more enjoyable. Pretty decent anime overall.

Let's be honest, everyone is team Koizumi here. Otani is acting like a fucking douche and he's just too freaking dense. It's actually painful to watch.

Episode 22, she's just retarded as fuck. I'm with Otani all the way there.

Spoiler (Click to View)Is that when she goes to the concert with the co-worker?

If so then yes, real dumb move by her after what happened before not even an ep or two prior.
