Bitcoinage Award Change
Due to the rise of Bitcoin value, Omniscient has decided to reduce the price of the Bitcoinage award from 1 BTC (currently valued at 1,223) to $250. When the award was first introduced to the forum BTC was at about $100 but then rose to over $1000 which Omniscient thought was overpriced for the award. If you wanted the award and weren't able to afford it before, now is your chance. >>Source

02/27/2017 Baka News Weekly - Issue #3 - SkullCandyy
Thank you guys for showing your support to the Hack Forums News. If you are looking for some awesome anime news, go out and give some brotherly love to the Baka News team who, just like us, are putting it a lot of effort to get their editions out for you too!
Armada: Hello TheChief and welcome to the HF News. Before we begin are there any shout outs you would like to make? TheChief: I'd like to shoutout to all the members of my group, Notorious, and a special shoutout to Brusk and Topkekeroni.
Armada: Only a dual member shout out, thats not common, but always good. So lets get started. What originally brought you to Hack Forums to begin with? TheChief: I was initially an iOS "hacker", and I used to create mods/cheats for iOS applications/games. I was referred by a member as he stated that I could sell hacks on the site, and also learn other methods of hacking.
Armada: So you joined for the iOS section. I know limited elements about Apple honestly, but please explain how this helped you progress through the community? TheChief: Actually, I joined but I didn't actually post much, and I was mostly inactive for about 8 months or so. I became active in December or so, when I wanted to sell cracked accounts and items belonging to similar categories.
Armada: So you progressed to account cracking, how did that go? TheChief: It went better than I expected. I made a couple of grand or so, and upgraded my account on a few forums, to start with.
Armada: So you got a good start in the iOS and cracking field, did some upgrades, and what progressed beyond that, because I know there was more. TheChief: What progressed beyond that was I learnt about currency exchanging, and then I started a currency exchange service, where I exchanged over $50,000 worth of Amazon Gift Cards from numerous users.
Armada: So from cracking you got in to currency exchanging, what brought that upon? Did you see the profit or the trust in it? TheChief: I am not sure what really brough it upon me, it was both the profit as well as building trust amongst users. I was getting tired of members getting scammed, as I got scammed twice as well. So I wanted a safe and fast exchange service for members, and I believe, I achieved that, successfully and stopped.
Armada: Well, seems to have worked, I myself have been scammed numerous times, although rarely file a dispute for my own various reason, you seem to have gotten to the trust. Which leads to my next question, what lead to your desire to want Group ownership? TheChief: I have been in several groups during my time on HackForums and I've always seen people saying that most of the groups were a big failure or completely useless. I wanted to modify that common belief, as a leader of the group. This is the reason I decided to buy a group - to establish a name in the community through help and knowledge.
Armada: I understand ownership was well, harder than some others to gather, I for one am denied ownership, so that being said now that you have a group in your control, do you have an perspective to give the community as to what is planned for Notorious? TheChief: We're currently providing helpdesk services in a few sections, in addition to the detailed tutorials posted by Notorious members for the community. We don't plan on stopping there and we are looking forward to providing challenges, resources, and projects for the use of HackForum users.
Armada: Well we hope to see more from you and the Notorious group. Before we part our ways, as I figure I have taken up enough of your time, do you have anything further to say? TheChief: I'd like to thank you for this amazing interview, and I'd also like to request the members of HackForums, to be more welcoming to new changes/ideas. That being said, I just want to add that, its great to see that there are people still willing to help out others, free of cost, through Hack Forums, and that is the quality Notorious expects to see in its member(s). Armada:Well thank you for your time, I apreciate the time. Take care and hope to interview once gain sometime in the future.

Oldest microfossils suggest life thrived on Earth about 4 billion years ago
The oldest microfossils on earth have recently been discovered in Quebec down in the depths of an ancient ocean. According to the coauthor of the study, the rocks that held the fossils had to have been between 3.77 and 4.28 billion years old, while the second oldest microfossils are just under 3.5 billion years old. However, the validity of those second oldest microfossils and the ones in question has been debated and faced with controversy. "There’s just not definitive proof that any of the textures or the minerals or features they have is unique of life", states Martin Van Kranendonk of the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
Lasers reveal how Big Ben 'bongs'
For those unfamiliar, Big Ben is a clocktower located in downtown London. In this article, BBC News was granted access to analyze the vibrations of the tower's 'bongs' in an attempt to map it. The BBC team used two lasers to scan Big Ben as it chimed every hour from 9 o'clock until 12 o'clock. "Then to get everything set up before the first chime, we were literally working against the clock", states a BBC team member in the video. Since the tower 'bongs' so frequently, it was difficult to set up the equipment and an analysis within the hour to prepare for the next bell and not be overthrown by the previous. For more information, watch the video presented in the article.
Cool NASA video shows dust devils whirling on Mars
The curiosity rover has been exploring Mars since 2012 when it first landed, but this is the first time we have seen it in action in such a sandy and windy climate. "One aspect we want to learn more about is the wind's effect on sorting sand grains with different composition. That helps us interpret modern dunes as well as ancient sandstones", states curiosity project scientist Ashwin Vasavada of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. A video published to NASA's YouTube channel on Monday shows several whirlwinds forming in front of the curiosity rover and dancing.

Out of 24 participants, five had their HIV become undetectable. Currently, there are about 37 million people on Earth living with HIV. >>Source

France’s Le Pen Refuses Meeting With Lebanon Grand Mufti
France’s far-right National Front presidential candidate, Marine Le Pen, canceled a meeting with Lebanon’s grand mufti after refusing to wear a headscarf for the encounter. The grand mufti heads the Dar al-Fatwa, which is the top religious authority for Sunni Muslims in the country. Le Pen visited Lebanon in order to bolster her foreign-policy credentials, and likely to target potential Franco-Lebanese votes. Le Pen defended her move by saying that she had met with higher Sunni authorities and did not have to cover up. The cleric’s press office claimed Le Pen’s aides were informed beforehand about the headscarf requirement, so they were surprised by her refusal to cover up. In France, it is against the law for high school pupils and those in public service to wear a headscarf, and that is done in the name of equal rights and church-state separation. In a French, political context, Le Pen’s actions would not be considered as surprising. >>Source
AMD Releasing High-End Intel Competitor for Half the Price
Many who have built or upgraded their current computer setup have experienced shock upon seeing the prices of high-end processors, particularly Intel, often reaching into the thousands of dollars. The AMD Ryzen line will boast a number of enthusiast level and above CPUs, with the highest end processor - the Ryzen 1800X, outperforming the Intel i7-6900K at less than half the price. On top of an astounding price point, AMD claims the Ryzen 1800X will outperform the i7-6900K by over 10 percent, and use about half the wattage (90W compared to the 6900K's 140W). Whether or not the Ryzen line will make what seems to impossible happen will be determined on its March 2nd release date, where it will be showcased in San Fransisco, and released later that day. All Ryzen processors have recently been made available for pre-order through some online retailers.

A spokesperson from Google has stated the move is so the company can focus on more engaging ad formats for viewers, and the change will happen not this year, but sometime in 2018. No mention has been made of 30-second advertisements in the middle of videos going away.
Samsung Chairman Jay Y. Lee Arrested
Jay Y. Lee, chairman of smartphone and electronics superpower Samsung, has had a warrant issued for his arrest earlier this week on counts of embezzlement, bribery, and perjury during his time as a Samsung executive. The warrant was issued as South Korean courts saw his temporary freedom as a risk of tampering or destroying evidence. Lee is being suspected of allegedly bribing a close friend of South Korean President Park Geun-hye in order to get support for his succession as the head of Samsung. Samsung denies these claims, and the trial is estimated to last around 18 months.
Serious Bug Exposed Sensitive Data From Millions of Websites Sitting Behind CloudFlare Protection
A serious flaw that has been discovered within CloudFlare's content delivery network gives out sensitive data such as the exposure of private session keys. Hackers would be able to gather information which includes: Passwords, Cookies and Tokens; these are used to authenticate users. The flaw has been named 'Cloudbleed', which is named after the 'Heartbleed' bug, discovered in 2014, but it does seem that the Cloudbleed bug is a lot worse. CloudFlare provides services for around 5.5 million websites, including some big websites available on the web, so this flaw is a potential security risk to all the websites that use CloudFlare services. >>Source

Hacker Who Knocked 1 Million Routers Offline Using MIRAI Arrested at London Airport
A suspect in connection with the attack on Deutsche Telekom last November has been arrested at London Airport. The suspect has been accused of being the mastermind behind the hack, infecting and taking over 900,000 home routers offline belonging to Deutsche Telekom users in Germany. The suspect is supposedly a 29 year old British citizen, as revealed by UK's National Crime Agency (NCA).
