Truly a folktale brought into fruition, Jin-Rou is quite a hidden gem in the anime realm. Essentially a unique and somewhat modern retelling of the original German story of Red Riding Hood, Jin-Rou makes use of this to portray the distress of a man of arms living in a society that holds itself to be against it. Plot wise, the story is as already stated generally interesting in its unique twist on the folktale. It also explores socio-political power struggles and employs many metaphors & motifs to convey the multiple themes of the anime. The art and sound are well done for a 90s era anime.

The only potential drawback may be the characters. There was never any real development amongst any of them. While each role was well done, they never indicated any signs of progressing. Nevertheless, it was a great watch and I recommend this to anyone up for a semi-psychological, police anime.
