I see so many new users who join, make a thread about something and then either leave or make a very poor quality response. I am aware there is a introductions sub-forum which would stop users from introducing themselves straight away but...
If new users were unable to make threads until they had sort of 10 posts or something wouldn't it ultimately improve the quality of the forum? I mean it would mean if a new user wanted to advertise something they would have to at least make 10 posts.
One could argue it could make the forums quality less as the user might just post 10 crappy posts.
Just an idea/suggestion.
I think its viable but we gotta think would it really make that much of a difference tbh lol

Its the small things that make a difference.

only takes a user 1:20 to spam forum then can post threads
so not a solution
I think thread titles should....
state what the thread is about rather than being click bait
OT though, what if a user joined and had a genuine question, they'd see they need posts and end up being a dead account if they don't want to be replying to threads. Also like you said they could just make 10 LQ posts and then make a thread which isn't that hard to do any way so if they did want to advertise, they just need to spend 5 minutes tops to make 10 replies. It's just delaying the process really.

I think it might overall increase the bounce rate just slightly, but also mean we get low quality replies that mean nothing to anyone more often.
I do think it might be a good idea but I don't have the stats to prove otherwise. Stats.php says new users are 800+ per day.
If all 800 users make a thread, and it takes 10 posts to make a thread - I would rather see some skid asking how to hack their dads facebook than replies that mimic my own.
800x1=800 threads.
800x10=8,000 posts + 800 threads after.
That's 8800 posts in total for them all each day to get their thread about asking for facebook hacks and then still leaving the forum straight after.

I wouldn't say my title is click bait?
Just a suggestion m9. And I did already state that in my thread.
I don't think 10 posts will change smth..
Its very easy to make 10 posts.
but not bad..
This would just make people spam other threads.
They would probably make 10 LQ posts fast to reach that quota.
By the way, this would be a pain in the ass for users who joined to legitimately make a legit post.

You can't stop LQ, it's the internet.
Also, I don't like the idea of making posts the requirement, if someone is joining to be LQ, all this is going to do is make the forum have 1 LQ thread AND 10 LQ posts, it is probably better to have a 24 hour wait or something to post threads.

I disagree with this suggestion. The way that it is atm allows new users to get started, they should not feel limited. Many users just join in order to make a thread, and that is fine, they usually get help and walk away happy. 10 posts will not change a thing, they will shitpost and then the situation has got ten times worse than original.

There are already so many restrictions on new user account. So i do not think disallowing them to make thread will help HF in any way.

Oh here's a really good idea, only let l33t members make threads.

There are already certain things new users can't do until they get x many posts.
Some make decent posts to reach that number, but many also spam the forum with nonsense to reach that goal.
I don't think a 'post wall' will differentiate between the high quality and the low quality when it comes to making threads. I think the same quality thread will be made regardless if they're making that thread as their first post or 25th.
