My Computer is retarded

so i have an Alienware x51 i bought it a couple years back and after a year it stopped working, it literally wouldn't turn on so i just put it in my closet because i was annoyed. I brought it back out a couple weeks ago and surprisingly the 5 beep code that the PC had was magically gone and it was fully functional, or at least i thought. i mainly use this computer for gaming and i tried to open my games and the only game that opened was Minecraft. i couldn't open or update any steam games and league isn't working. i am connected to wifi and my Windows Smartscreen also has stopped working. tried to download a windows 10 upgrade (from Microsofts site) and it didnt work and then i tried to download "TotalAV" an anti virus program, which also downloaded but then i opened it and it didn't continue to download.

i have no clue what to do, but if you have any suggestions that would be great, its really pissing me off.
It is what it is
I would move this to the miscellaneous computer talk or window sections. This doesn't seem to be a virus or malware issue. You might get better responses over there.

How does your pc perform in safe mode?
I'd honestly just make a bootable usb with windows and see what you can do.

Sounds like everything is just outdated as fuck. (driver and C++ runtime etc. wise)
Your best bet would be to re-install Windows fresh.

And stay away from crapware if you know whats good for you. Its just a money scam really.

Also try and actual more reputable AV next time. Avast, NOD32, Kaspersky .. some of the more popular ones. I never even heard of TotalAV.
Human stupidity : Buying something they have no clue about, and then ask if they wasted their money.

Without any real detail and insight into the problem, it's hard to diagnose such faults. Realistically, if the system is truly unusable, your best bet would be to reinstall with W10, fresh drivers etc. Whilst this may seem drastic, without any real detail, and if the system truly is that bad, this seems like the most logical option to me.

In terms of data recovery, if you need to save data from the machine, I'd recommend a HDD enclosure [relatively cheap] or a bootable Linux USB in order to copy files from the drive.
