Skeptical about Ethereum. Is Ethereum Myspace?

I've seen many say 2018 will be Ethereums year but i disagree. It's hitting its limits and the scaling solutions don't seem to be near. The only use case for ethereum right now is crowdfunding  😊 2017 was the year of Ethereum(it went up x100)

I believe Bitcoin is strongly cemented on the top, because it has no competition as a censorship resistant store of value. If some coins are a bit faster or something like that, it doesn't really matter.

But Ethereum on the other side is hitting it's limits and if other blockchains enable scalable dapps  🤐 ,...

I don't know how long it will take for Ethereum to implement scaling solutions... But i could imagine it will be a hard job and will take years  😊 (if you are up with the news, let us know)

Problem is 95% of people buying into cryptos are retail investors and don't know what they're buying... So naturally everyone is just stacking up on ETH. It's the biggest, can't fail right?

The network effect is very important and Ethereum has that... Most developers are working on it and the ecosystem with the most developers on it will usually win(windows for example). But if Ethereum can't provide scalable solutions in the near future, i imagine other blockchains will take it's market share(EOS, NEO,...)

All my ETH transactions get confirmed rather quickly with relatively low fees. Please show me proof that it's "hitting its limits". And as for scaling solutions. At least the Ethereum group is working on it unlike Bitcoin Core which uses 3rd party services like LN to solve their scaling problems.

How did you come up with that 95%?

You just contradicted everything you said previously.

What is "near future"? Is that 6 months or 6 years? IMHO it's likely a lot of scaling solutions will get solved as they are needed. Right now blockchain technology understands they have a scaling problem but the need for a solution may have to be implemented in 2-5 more year. I think some patience is required. The fact is we know they are working on the solution diligently.
Completely ignoring the tech and going based off the charts and some fundamental analysis, I don't see ETH being a strong investment for the year of 2018. For the past year, Ethereum is up over 7100%. I think the price is pretty inflated and we won't se much out of Ethereum for the year (at least compared to other coins cough Bitcoin).

I'm saying what Ethereum has, is the Network effects(+) and outdated, unscalable tech(-).

Dan Larimer said that Ethereum can implement sharding and all these scaling solutions, but it's like changing the parts on a running engine. It's hard and complex to do.

So there might be competitiors(NEO, EOS) that will be able to provide a scalable dapp environment development BEFORE ethereum does. EOS is 3 and a half months away, Ethereum is years(as you say, 2-5 years. I have no idea what's the actual timeframe).

Will developers be blind cult followers on Ethereum, if other blockchains are better? Will they wait 2-5years on platform that can not provide rather than to immedietly switch to another platform? The thing is there hasn't been competition until now and now scalable blockchains are being born.

I don't know how it's going to play out, but i do not dare to bet on Ethereum for this year  😵

I don't think Ethereum will go away. But i think other "3rd gen" blockchains will take some of it's marketshare. It's true though that they are mostly scalable due to probably writing off the securty/"censorship resistance" as they rely on only 21 nodes(EOS).
