(law help) Imitation Firearm/Concealed Carry

I need some help or advice regarding the subject of "imitation firearms" and conceal carrying a BB pistol.

I reside in California, and as many know, it is near impossible to obtain a CCW. I was thinking of a way around this fact.

I recently purchased two BB pistols, one which is a replica of a Beretta, and another which is a Colt Commander.

The town I live in is notorious for consistent muggings, attacks and lots of tweakers who want nothing more than to steal your shit while you're minding your own business walking down the street.

You may say a BB gun is nothing like a real gun, it's not going to deter anyone, and I will hit you back with a:

BB Gun or not, these do look incredibly convincing from the weight to the looks to even the blowback. While it may not kill someone, you
take a couple BB's to the face, it's going to deter you, I don't care how stronk you think you are (unless you're on meth or something) so
say what you will.

My only concern is carrying this in my backpack or on my person. If for whatever reason I did have to use it, I have the lawful right to brandish
or discharge it at my discretion as long as my life or someone else's life was in danger. However, if for whatever reason I was stopped by
the police, and did everything accordingly such as notifying them I have it on my person and such, would they be able to charge me
with a concealed weapon or anything similar.

I've tried reading more about it on various sites but everything seems to say something different so I'm really not sure and was curious if someone on here is knowledgable in this field and could shed some light on it.
I’m not familiar with any of this stuff so take my input lightly but I seriously doubt you can get charged with some sort of weapon shit for having a BB gun in your bag. If they say anything just say you and the boys are going to get loaded and see who can shove it further down their throat.
You are talking about California you might want to ask an actual lawyer there.

But generally speaking as long as you do not brandish it you should have no problem. But if for some reason the police do stop you and intend to search you it is very important you explain with your hands in sight that you have a BB gun on you not a firearm.

But HF is not the place to ask I highly doubt there is someone in California law enforcement or a lawyer familiar with laws there on HF.
youre a dumbass if you point a bb gun at someone, you might think its gonna "scare" them until some gang member just pulls out their real gun and caps your ass

IMO get a weighted baseball cap. It's as sturdy as a blackjack, and will give someone a good whollop. I was in security guard. It's still illegal to carry but less obvious.

Pretty much the first guy he pulls this on who has an actual real gun will shoot him dead.......worst idea ever OP, just don't carry anything like this.
There have been multiple shooting here in Ohio involving BB guns.
In most cases the one caring the BB gun never made it home that day.

Example: Four years ago.

12-year-old Tamir Rice was shot by Cleveland police

IMO: Don't do it!

Penal Code 12556
(a) No person may openly display or expose any imitation firearm, as defined in Section 12550, in a public place.
(b) Violation of this section, except as provided in subdivision ©, is an infraction punishable by a fine of one hundred dollars ($100) for the first offense, and three hundred dollars ($300) for a second offense.
© A third or subsequent violation of this section is punishable as a misdemeanor.
(d) Subdivision (a) shall not apply to the following, when the imitation firearm is:
(1) Packaged or concealed so that it is not subject to public viewing.

"Based on Section 921(a)(3), air guns, because they use compressed air and not an explosive to expel a projectile, do not constitute firearms under Federal law — unless they are manufactured with the frames or receivers of an actual firearm."

Long story short, it is legal to conceal carry a BB gun however you can be charged if you display it in a public place. I'd also be sure to notify any police officer that you are carrying a BB gun if you were to be pulled over or detained. Additionally as everybody else is saying so far, it might not be the best idea. As somebody who holds multiple CCW permits, I can imagine multiple situations where trying to use a BB gun in place of a real gun could have catastrophic effects.

He may be a future Darwin Award winner........in fact I'm betting the first dude he pulls that on that's trying to mug him, will nominate him for the award and possibly give the award to him.

Don’t carry a bb gun bro and don’t conceal it. Good way to get shot by a real gun.
