Brexit Is a 'Wound' For the Bloc

This week, the geopolitical and economic effects of the Brexit vote continue to reverberate across the world. Questions regarding the future relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union remain contentious matters that worry both businessmen and economic policymakers. This week the European Parliaments President David Sassoli expressed his fears regarding the United Kingdom’s decision to cancel an extension to the Brexit transition period. The transition ends in December 2020. During this period, the preexisting European laws and free-trade will continue throughout the 11 month transition period. The President stated that the EU holds no grudges against the United Kingdom.

Coles Teams Up With Uber Eats to Bring Supermarket Meals to Customers' Homes

The modern trend of disruption of traditional industries shows no signs of slowing down. Uber after disrupting the Taxi industry set its sights on the fast-food industry and beyond. Uber, has teamed up with Coles to deliver food to customer’s houses. The company announced this new experimental move and stated that it would be starting in a suburb in southern Sydney, Australia. Customers using the app can now order roast chicken salads, baked goods, curries, pies and desserts. 2019 Will Bring the Highest Carbon Dioxide Levels on Record, Scientists Claim

In the wake of the latest events in the emerging pattern of environmental catastrophes such as the horrific fires that devastated the Australian countryside and the floods that ravaged eastern Africa, scientists have announced that carbon dioxide levels will rise significantly this year. They attribute this rise to a combination of two factors. First, the potential of earth's natural carbon sinks is affected by factors such as changing weather patterns in the oceans, forests and Savannah that have reduced their carbon-capturing potential. Second is human activity. The continued use of green-house gas-producing fuels compounds this problem further. Nonetheless, the debate between climate change believers and deniers rages on.

Antarctica Hits Highest Temperature Ever
A research base in the Antarctic has recorded the hottest temperature ever for the continent (18.3 degrees Celcius) in the midst of rising concern about a dangerous atmospheric deviation that has caused an increase in the melting of ice sheets around the south pole. One of the fastest warming regions of the world is The Antarctic peninsula. We're in big trouble as ice will continue to melt at an increasing rate and thus we can expect to see an eventual rise of global sea level over the centuries. >>Source

Prime Minister of Ireland Risks Defeat
Ireland goes to the polls today (08 Feb), with Prime Minister Leo Varadkar's party struggling to hold power after nearly 10 years in office. Leo Varadkar is betting on a late swing to keep his post, and the party has tried to oppose Fianna Fail and Sinn Fein's financial strategies as it attempts to retain power. However, odds are in favor for the Fianna Fail party and its leader Michael Martin. The percent chance of Mr Varadkar returning to power after the ballot is extremely low. Many people expect Fianna Fail to take over lead of the government. >>Source

Fireflies Under Global Threat
Fireflies, also known as lightning bugs, inhаbit every continent except Antarctica, moving towards moist environments like marshes, forests and fields. They are under danger on a global scale, with well-known risks, for example, habitat loss and pesticides created by a different threat: mankind's omnipresent night time artificial light that plays hаvoc with their balletic nocturnal gallantry. While information is sparse on population patterns for most species, there is proof that these insects have disappeared from numerous spots where they had been abundant in the past. >>Source

More problems with the 737
Boeing has been working on getting the 737-max back in the air as fast as possible. It seems, though, that the pace with which they push forward is causing other issues to come up in the 737. With the flight computers, Boeing has recently discovered a new glitch with the flight computers – a light that is supposed to warn pilots that the trim system is not working, is staying on longer than expected. Boeing has stated that a patch will be implemented in the software for this newly discovered glitch. Boeing expects the 737 to be back in the air by the mid of 2020. >>Source

China's new cryptocurrency
This may be the first year we see a Chinese sovereign cryptocurrency. It was noted that the cryptocurrency, which has been discussed for the past five years, is coming to completion and ready for use by the public. DCEP (Digital Currency / Electronic Payments) will be handled in a few different ways, unlike other cryptocurrencies. First, the government will monitor the source of DCEP value, unlike Bitcoin, which is controlled by an algorithm. The government will be sending the currency through banks and the monetary system. Second, the blockchain ledger will be under government control and not controlled by a system (computers). Finally, this new cryptocurrency is going to act and be treated like any other currency used today. DCEP is going to be a seamless transaction, without any time lag. >>Source

Dragos has entered the chat
A new ransomware has made its way into the cyber world: Dragos. Like any other ransomware, it will encrypt the files on a victim's computer and then prompt the user to pay x amount to get access back to the infected computers. But this ransomware was designed specifically to target an industrial environment. This could include power grids, manufacturing plants, or even plants that process oil. A main feature is Dragos can kill 64 system processes at once that are linked to industrial controls. All though, this is not the first ransomware to attack an industrial environment, it’s stated in the ransomware that it’s first of its kind. >>Source

Call of Duty 2020 Confirmed
Activision has confirmed that we're getting a new Call of Duty game this coming Fall. However, with all the buzz around the latest announcement, Activision has failed to name a studio that is expected to work on and release the game later on this year. The latest round of rumors going around online state that Treyarch is taking the lead on development for this game, but it's all speculation at this time because Activision hasn't announced anyone officially. The franchise is on the line at this point and if Call of Duty 2020 doesn't make a positive impact on the community, this may be the final nail in the coffin. >>Source

Harley Quinn Fortnite Skin Following Movie Release
The developers over at Epic Games have no issue adding copious amounts of limited edition skins, weapons and gestures to their smash hit Fortnite. For some time now, Fortnite has been collaborating with numerous film productions in order to offer new skins like, for example, Avengers , Star Wars or John Wick. With their latest installment, they've added a Harley Quinn character skin for players to show their support for the movie and frankly it's not shocking that sales for the character skin are pouring in as the days go on. >>Source

Cyberpunk 2077 Open World Too Massive
With the game already being pushed back from it's original release date, it may not be the worst thing that could happen. Developers have responsed to multiple questions regarding why the games was postponed and the reasoning behind it. John Mamais who is a producer at the Polish firm, spoke just recently with Onmsft and he gave some particularly crispy details, particularly with regard to side quests . Among these are the Street Stories, 75 in number : “these are like little quests”, with a story but no cutscenes like “in advanced quests”. >>Source

Smile Down the Runway Collaborates with Real Fashion Brands
Smile Down the Runway is an anime about a high school girl named Chiyuki who wants to become a model and perform in the Paris Collection show. Her father owns a well-known fashion company in Japan known as Mille Neige. The producers of the anime took the Mille Neige name and created a website that you can visit. Once on the website, you'll be greeted with a well-constructed portfolio of Chiyuki, replicating what you would see in someone's actual portfolio. The website contains information on her as a model that fashion companies and agencies would want to know such as her height and her past modeling jobs. What makes this site even cooler is knowing that the photos used to showcase her modeling job are clothes designed by real-life fashion designers. You can check out the website here. >>Source

Funimation Removes Interspecies Reviewers Anime
Most recently the anime, Interspecies Reviewers, was taken off of the Funimation website. A representative from Funimation told reporters of the Anime News Network, a website known for its articles on anime, manga, and Japanese video games, "After careful consideration, we determined that this series falls outside of our standards. We have the utmost respect for our creators so rather than substantially alter the content, we felt taking it down was the most respectful choice." Currently, people who are outside of Australia and New Zealand, as well as France, are going to need to find a new way to stream the anime. There are only two websites that have been confirmed to continue the streaming of the anime. Residents from France can stream it from Wakanim, while Australia and New Zealand residents can stream it from AnimeLab. General anime fans and content creators have created a few articles asking why Funimation would even license the project despite knowing what they were getting into. You can watch a video by the YouTuber Chibi Reviews if you would like to know more. >>Source

Why A My Hero Academia Villain Name Is Causing Major Controversy
This is a warning to our readers who have not read up to chapter 259 in the manga of My Hero Academia. This specific article contains spoilers, so if you have not reached this point in the manga, please do not read any further. Kohei Horikoshi, the creator, and author of the My Hero Academia has recently apologized to the public after it has come to light that the villain known as Dr. Daruma Ujiko, which is an alias, had his actual name revealed. Maruta Shiga is Dr. Daruma's real name and this caused controversy because of "Maruta". Maruta was the name that was used as a reference for people who were victims of human experimentation in World War II. Not only that, but Dr. Daruma is later known for experimenting on humans in the anime and the manga. He experimented on humans to create the Nomu. Kohei, as said before, apologized to the public and stated that the name was not intentional and was an honest mistake. My Hero Academia's manga publisher, Weekly Shonen Jump, will be working on getting the name changed. >>Source

Food Wars Announces Fifth Season
Food Wars will be getting a fifth season and fans of the series are more upset than glad. The first season aired back in 2015 and recently just finished its fourth season in late December. The fifth season has a set date of airing in Spring 2020, so those who are not caught up have until April to do so. As far as we know, the anime has been given the title of, "Gou no Sara (The Fifth Plate)". If the anime is very popular and has made it this far, why are fans upset? Starting from the third season all the way to the fourth, fans have been complaining that the episodes are very boring and the characters are starting to lose any type of uniqueness to them. Additionally, those people who are complaining state that this specific arc that the fifth season focuses on will ultimately kill the series. Without spoiling anything, fans also state that the fourth season is the finale and after that, you do not need to know anything more after that. Therefore, this fifth season is just overkill. Of course, this is the opinion of others so you should give the show a try when it comes out and judge for yourself. >>Source
