new patch is live and so are new runes and items.
if youve played on pbe at all, what did you find that was fairly strong involving new items?
what builds are you gonna try over the next few days?
im personally basically a gwen otp because im never allowed to play my other champions bc of draft dif (irelia/fiora)
but im gonna be trying out a couple new things:
1. tempo over conq
in practice tool i can get 1.54 AS with E at LVL1 and max stack tempo.
for reference, jax max stack passive and tempo goes up to 1.47.
irelia max stack passive and tempo goes up to 1.53
both use same standard attack speed runes.
2. new item
crown of shattered queen was "intended" for xerath and velkoz to survive assassins, right?
well if you are good at xerath or velkox, you already know how to deal with assassins (barrier/exh and dont be a moron pushing up)
crown only gives 70 AP so you are trading off damage for forgiveness when you play badly.
but on gwen ill be able to jump into a fight lategame like a moron and not die, and proceed to 1v9.
this means you can also swap presence of mind for triumph, as the item gives mana.
only downside is you lose the riftmaker omnivamp (mythic/unique) so youll need to build more damage to compensate for not healing as much.
3. rav.hydra :3
this ties into the downside of part 2, losing that omnivamp.
this isnt as bad as it sounds. gwen is an AA-oriented champion anyway, needing to AA to stack Q and to deal dmg with passive+E.
ill note that hydra/cleave procs on each snip of Q (and possibly each needle hit of R, although i have to test that one again)
it gives good omnivamp, lets your AAs do a bit more dmg, and passive will work fairly well for splitpushing/waveclear as well
bonus: secret technology AD gwen build invented by yours truly
okay slight lie i only invented the "modern iteration" after watching canna vods when the champ came out and saw him building sunderer.
runes:
precision:
conq
pom
alacrity
last-stand
resolve[/b]
boneplating/2nd wind
overgrowth/unflinching
stats:
AS
AF
AR/MR
build order:
-->boots
-->sunderer (blunderer)
-->hullbreaker (?!?!?!)
IMPORTANT: THIS IS BREAKING POINT! YOU ARE AT YOUR STRONGEST HERE, OTHER ITEMS WILL HAVE LESS IMPACT AS GAME GOES LONGER
-->sterak/rav.hydra (build both, just interchangeable order)
-->situational last item
the theory
gwen has pisspoor ap ratios, but decently high base damages to get away with it in the early game
instead of buying items that scale later on in the game, you buy sunderer first because its a strong earlygame item.
it synergizes well with her E and Q which are spammable, and will give you a proc each time you recast ult (if you watch its CD properly.)
the mythic passive gives % AR/MR PEN so your passive/abilities will continue doing dmg throughout the game, while steroiding your AAs.
hullbreaker gives ridiculous stats since it got buffed. no one builds it though because splitpush meta comes and goes as movespeed meta gets buffed or nerfed.
but with sunderer you will always win 1v1's against any champ. you take towers in 15s or less
once you hit the breaking point you should have gotten yourself a sizeable lead from 1v1's or taking towers/farming, and try to abuse it by splitting as much as possible. hullbreaker makes you useless in fights, so ideally you should try to coordinate with your team when you push or at least try to match sidelane.
