Summertime Rendering

*Synopsis:
After his parents died, Shinpei Ajiro lived with the Kofune sisters, Mio and Ushio, but he has since moved to live on his own in Tokyo. But after Ushio drowns while trying to save the young Shiori Kobayakawa, he returns home to mourn her departure. However, bruises around Ushio's neck bring her cause of death into question.

Taking a step back, Shinpei becomes convinced there must be another explanation. Dangerous entities roam among the islanders, and a vision of deceased Ushio asks him to "save Mio" as her final request. He is certain that something is afoot—and Ushio's death is only a piece of the puzzle.

With the help of Mio and various others, Shinpei struggles to forge a future in which he, his friends, and family can stay alive. But the more he investigates, the more impossible such a future seems. This darkness infiltrates his home island. Just how much more suffering will he go through before finding the right path to save it all?

I'll start with my review so far:

This series is honestly great. It's like Higurashi had a love-child with Chaos;Head, both of which are easily in my top-10 series of all time.
The mystery factor, the gore / horror, and the re-do's lay out the groundwork for what (so far) appears to be serious character development with the main protagonist. If you liked any of the following series then I urge you to give this a watch:

• Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni / Umineko

• Chaos;Head

• Steins;Gate

• Welcome to the NHK!

• The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiyah (Only for the repeats)

• Island

• Dusk Maiden of Amnesia

• Re-Zero

As of the latest episode:
Spoiler (Click to View)
The scene where Ushio comes back from the dead and exists as a shadow (or so we think), really shakes things up from the already gruesome pace we were being set up with. This only gets further thrown into chaos when MC's shadow takes over and it's revealed that they already know he can re-do certain scenarios so they keep him alive. I foresee a lot of suicide attempts much like how we saw with Re:Zero in order to redo past events to try to change the very grim future that awaits.

I watched 4 (or 5) episodes, I was soo confused at first, and surprisingly it turned out "slightly" gorey which I didn't expect, but also no complaints. All in all, looks like a show I'd enjoy, as there is always something going on, so its hard to get bored really, for me at least. c:
