Canada Removing 4300 Bitcoin ATMS

Canada, the first country to have a BTC ATM in Vancouver back in 2013, is now removing all the 4300 ATMs in the country due to 704 million $ in fraud losses, that criminals used to drain these money from mostly elderly victims.

I’m actually glad they removed the ATMs. They’re a rip off. And so many people got scammed.

I think gift cards should be banned too.

They do have KYC now. Can’t even do a cash out anymore. Just buy only.

Oh, this is wild. In Europe the ATMs we have are fully anonymous (at least those I’ve used)

Interesting. EU is very strict with crypto in regards to travel rules, sources of funds and all that fancy stuff. Even XMR is banned lol

EU is not the same, laws in Eastern Europe are way softer than those in Western Europe.

It really depends on the fees, I guess. With fees 5-7% here they make good $. A lot of Ukraine immigrants in Europe cross the borders with crypto and they use these ATMS to cash out their funds.

Yeah that makes sense. Honestly I’d buy one but I’d been advised not to.

That doesn't make sense at all.

I always thought entering a country as a rich guy has it's perks. Unless you enter illegally ofc.

Well think it that way, you leave your country with a car where you got all your stuff packed, bringing 6-7 digits in cash is not safe because someone can rob you.
