I remember watching TTL's vid of him modding his Storm Trooper to fit a 360mm rad, but I don't know if you are willing to start hacking at a brand new case. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJK0TCGBiHM (Jun 15, 2013 06:56 AM)SIM-914155 Wrote: Is this a build where money is no issue or is this just an extreme build? I remember watching TTL's vid of him modding his Storm Trooper to fit a 360mm rad, but I don't know if you are willing to start hacking at a brand new case. I was yesterday all night making plans on this, as I found some very interested info in the cases manual (yes the manual). I have 1 bulletproof concept on how i'll do it a lot easier than in that video. I'll be able to fit it perfectly, just gonna have to make so minor modding (thankfully I have all the material and tools needed and some help so that won't be an issue. Also thanks for that video I got some useful info from it. And worst case scenario I'll just get a 240mm rad, isn't hard to get at all. EDIT: Or maybe 2, one top and one bottom.
I recommend replacing the CPU with a 3930k (it's a 6-core/12-thread Sandy Bridge-E; just like the 3970x) that way you'll get around $500 to spend on anything else (like another SSD for RAID 0, that RAM you want, and a self-contained water cooler?) and only lose 3-4% performance at stock clock (and of course, with that shiny new self-contained water cooler you'll be able to beat the stock 3970x in performance).

I've already bought the i7-3970X :) See the pictures in the OP (Jun 15, 2013 07:47 AM)Jire Wrote: Aww 😟 I'm always sad when somebody wastes $500 for a name. Is there a way you could get a return? The performance difference between the 3930k and 3970x is literally 5% at maximum. Still not finished with the buying part etc, waiting for watercooling and some watercooling parts to arrive. Also need to get a GTX780 for a start. It's clear that this guys is in denial by pride, he's not interested in people's feedback or critics, but rather comments and praises, foolishly thinking he's got the fastest machine on HF. On the dance floor ~

You are going to get 2x GPUs and Extreme version of CPU and you are getting some mediocre SDD with only 120GB? Such a waste of money. It is like your car has great engine and transmission but you have square wheels. If you really want to push the limit you need to switch to SSD completely even for storage or maybe get PCI-E SSD.
