Policy Question

Do PM's count as on-site proof for scams?

I received a PM from a user who offered to buy my DOGE for BTC.

For now, I won't say who, but he had multiple scam reports on him. He admitted that he did scam them. Is this sufficient proof to have his account closed? I do know staff does not get involved with reports, but in the help documents, it says staff will ban a member if there is on-site evidence. Admitting to is even better.

I can only assume he was attempting to scam me, since he did not want to use a MM (horrible excuse, but not sufficient proof to call it a scam attempt).

Marketplace Safe Trading

"Our staff on occasion will ban a scammer, if the evidence is on site and apparent"

Who exactly would I PM regarding this?

EDIT: Thanks for the help, posted a community alert. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4117419
It's sufficient proof of a scam but it wont necessarily result in a ban. But definitely use the screenshot in your deal dispute. It will significantly help other users.

No one. Don't PM staff nor anyone from administration. However, it is valid proof, but Hack Forums does not get involved in deal disputes like you want.
If PMs don't count as on-site proof, then what is on-site proof? Of course it's on-site proof. If he admits to scamming he will get his account closed.
Make a community alert is my best advice.

I was not scammed, but he admitted to scamming others. I can only assume he was attempting to scam me.
Well, don't PM anyone. Don't PM Omniscient, because he said he will close anyone's account who sends him a PM. Just make a report in the Deal Disputes section, and just make sure to make a noticeable title, and maybe it will get Omniscient's attention. Good luck!

Well if that was true my account would closed multiple times already.

I'd also suggest putting out a community alert with his UID in the title too.

I know PM's are on-site, but that's not exactly what I meant. I was just wondering if ONLY pm's count as enough on-site proof for a ban. I guess I didn't word it properly.
Yes to answer your question they do count as on site proof as its on site lmao

Ah ok. Well you should make a Community Alert anyway and use the PM so people can have a solid reason to not deal with him.

Posts could be considered as on-site proof for scams too, but the main on-site proof was, is and will always be PMs.

Yep that's often the case. Go get that scammer, OP!

Posted a community alert, since a deal dispute wouldn't be valid in my case. https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=4117419
