Hello HF,

I've got an old windows 7 laptop, the packard bell dot s NL. I'm not using it anymore but I am looking for a device to use for wifi hacking and such, so with kali linux.

Specs:
Spoiler (Click to View)
CPU: Intel Atom N280 1,66GHz
HDD: 160GB 5400RPM
RAM: 1GB DDR2
Wireless: Atheros 802.11b/g

So should this netbook be able to run kali linux properly with all functions?

Thanks a lot!

That hard drive and CPU may bog down the performance a bit, but you should be able to run Kali without much issues.

I put Kali 2.0 on a netbook with similar specs, differing that I have 2Gb of RAM. It runs it but it is a little slow/lagging.

I bought a HP Stream 11" for Kali but it was unable to detect the Wifi. I am now just using windows 10 on it. Was a waste of money.

Honestly I don't think 1gb will sufficiently push it... It will work but will be quite slow when loading and maybe even a little laggy

Not all network adapters/cards work with Kali.
Look for a supported usb wifi adapter!
