Bytes for Regular Members
September 14th, Omniscient announced regular (unupgraded) members are now able to earn Bytes by posting and making threads, just like upgraded users. This was most likely done to give unupgraded users more incentive to post, in order to get Bytes and join in on that part of Hack Forums. Omniscient did mention that in the future we may get differential earnings, based on usergroups. >>Source

Research Into HIV Yields Interesting
The University of Zurich found that around one percent or less of people diagnosed with HIV are able to produce antibodies to completely fight off the disease. This discovery is the result of years of work on the behalf of the Swiss team. They are now focusing their efforts on narrowing and isolating the factors associated with this phenomenon. These antibodies are also now in the process of being studied. The team is well aware this is only the beginning, “We have found one candidate. Based on that, we now want to begin developing an immunogen ourselves,” said the author of the paper Prof. Alexandra Trkola, PhD. >>Source

Nostalgia and bad Weather
New research posits that bad weather may make us feel good. This would be because of the fond memories we have associated with the rain other conditions.  We all have one or two good memories from our youth surrounding the rain, the brain seems to selectively call back to those. These findings will mostly be applicable in many forms of therapy that require the patient to be entirely relaxed. You may find simulated rain being applied sooner than you think. >>Source

The Oppressiveness of the China may be Getting to Google
A senior scientist has left Google in the wake of their proposal of a censored version of the service for Chinese consumers. The employee is believed one of five others that have left in the wake of this program. Operation Dragonfly, as it was called internally has yet to be spoken about publicly by Google. Those standing firm against the alleged program firmly believes they would be doing a grave disservice to the Chinese public by working on anything resembling a censored version of the engine. I will eagerly be waiting to hear any sort of official response on these events.  >>Source

UK Surveliance Program is in hot Water
The program has been found to violate human rights by the European Court of Human Rights, citing there were practically zero safeguards in place. They are also referencing how practically no information about the program was ever disclosed to the public. The director of Big Brother Watch, Silkie Carlo, had this to say about the proceedings “This landmark judgment confirming that the UK’s mass spying breached fundamental rights vindicates Mr Snowden’s courageous whistleblowing and the tireless work of Big Brother Watch and others in our pursuit for justice. Under the guise of counter-terrorism, the UK has adopted the most authoritarian surveillance regime of any Western state, corroding democracy itself and the rights of the British public. >>Source
