So i've been interested in this for a while now and been keeping track of pretty much the thousand most active users on HF to find out some data.
Before we get started, DO NOT COMMENT WHERE YOU ARE FROM OR IF YOU ARE MARKED. I have not associated any user with a location so don't worry.
There was a months worth of data to process hence why i've been a wee bit less active.
Some interesting facts I found over the 1000 most active (since January 2018 till September 2018).
Those who use Iphones are 13x more likely to check in on threads they have commented on for new replies.
The worst offender for posting and not checking back is Android users.
The majority of HF uses Firefox at around 70% (not entirely accurate) on PC and 95% use Chrome on android.
The majority of Mac users are from Ireland and the UK.
The most active users are from Australia.
There are 1000 locations listed in total within this map, however if say there are 5 people from texas, it groups them
Can I quickly mention - there are an absolute shit tonne of people using HF on mobile, They are also the most likely to reply and converse. This is important to note.
(Map is 1000 most active members from January, stats are all sections/all users)

Why are android users so bad at checking back? xd

Dunno, it's pretty crazy. (This is on individual users not 1 user carrying others).
It takes about 13 android users for every Iphone user.

Its even more weird because I am an android user. Maybe I have a special case of OCD reminding me to check.

It just goes to show how many users there are on mobile that even if you constantly check back in - you can't carry it on your shoulders.

Well the majority of the time I spend on here is PC anyway. Which browser are you using on PC?
What tools are you using on this one? Can we have a closer look to it?
First off, I just saw your avatar blink for the first time and it FREAKED ME OUT. I thought I was losing my mind.
Second, how did you collect the location data for the 1,000 users?

I change a lot depending on what i'm doing - Generally Chrome, then Opera then Firefox then Iceweasel so forth.

A lot of time and energy. It was worth it, I've learned a lot.
It was scattered and not constant but each moth there's a minimum of 3 weeks data. Location map is just for 1,000 users but there was more than just those.
I did however figure out a better way while near the end of this and tried it out, worked well and got pissed off. Not as accurate and harder to parse but still easier and better for rough averages/estimates.

Same kind of deal here aside from Opera. Well thanks for the statistics 🤭

Just which order I manually typed them in. Not really in any sort of order really just the order I had them in after parsing, manually went through and added them using

If you go there and put in a location then the next location you put in comes up as a second location so forth.
Here's a closer look at the states.
31 of the top 1000 were from Las Vegas.
I’m really interested in the process you used to gather the locations, but you seem hesitant to go into detail. That’s a really cool project man, thanks for sharing it with us.
Did you check the times at which people are most active?

It's not that i'm hesitant it's just a long ass write up on how I did it, it'd be much easier to explain the easier way I found.
As far as most active no, didn't really look at that.
