CryptoToday.com | $LIST - Decentralized CoinMarketCap with Vote2Earn reward system

Hi everyone! ✌

We are building a Web3 CoinMarketCap. Why?
1. Because I'm sick of their long period to get listed
2. You need to pay CMC and CoinGecko (their sister agencies) 99% of the time to get listed there.

What do we do?
We beat the current coin listing sites by taking the centralization and their desire for bribe-taking, begging, and pleading to get listed there to the hands of the community with CryptoToday project. In short, any project now will be able to get listed, at a community-set low price, verified by the community, listed by the community. No need to buy favors.

Our $LIST token launch:
- fair
- no VCs, no presale
- team tokens are locked for 12 months.

Not even speculators! Because on fair launch you get 10% of the tokens, with the remaining 90% unlocked at a rate of 10% monthly, supporting holders and proper believers in the decentralization of the space.

Fair Launch Token Sale: TBA, 2022.
- Fast and fair listing (54 hours)
- Community-based – Community have the power to vote and to decide if your project is legit
- New listed project will have high community awareness – aka free marketing
- Vote to earn a system for community and rewards for those who vote the most

💡Whitepaper and Team:
We have prepared a whitepaper that explains how to access our platform and vote for your favorite crypto project!

Website:

Please, first read the whitepaper and if you have some questions about it, I'll be more than happy to answer here. You can join us on Discord, too!

EDIT: This is ERC-20

Thanks to Omniscient for the suggestion on the ticker -> New Ticker is $LIST -> It's better for marketing, catchy, multipurpose.
Good luck with this project. Looking forward to see how it turns out.

Very interesting project, obviously you know the difficulties behind something like this.

Best of luck, I will be watching and awaiting the launch.
Thank you very much for the support! 👍

I'll be needing marketing/media exposure as much as possible, so if somebody is interested, send me a pm with any kind of what you can think of and we'll work something out. 🍻

This is community based project, so I really need big community.
So basically now scammers can list their shitcoins with no restriction. No thanks.

I guess, you didn't read a whitepaper. Before you vote You'll have to DYOR about the project and pay to vote with our token. You can vote for the project "yes" or "no"

and there will be a reward pool.

If 1000 people vote x (example: 50 usd) per vote = 50k usd is reward pool.
OG gets better % reward

Conclusion: scam projects will not get listed because people will DYOR and vote after their research if project is legit or no.

If more than 50% people vote "no", project will not get listed.

For this to success, i need a large community. Since i invested alot and my heart in this to make completely decentralized listing with vote2earn function (gamefication), i believe this will be huge.
If you are looking for any additional devs let me know! Had a similar idea but it’s a lot for one person
This is dope AF i joined your discord. Will be following this project.

So your plan is to get rid of barriers to entry by creating alternative barriers to entry?

Do you guys actually understand the kind of infrastructure that you need to power the backend for a site like CoinMarketCap?

There is zero discussion in the white paper about what powers the coin data aspect. It tends to focus on the token and how you get listed, and none of the other aspects that this kind of site would have. I want to know how the infrastructure for your backend, coin data, coin price data, etc. will work and how that will be decentralized. Just because the listing process is somewhat decentralized, that doesn't make it a decentralized CoinMarketCap. From what I've read, CryptoToday doesn't really sound like a decentralized alternative.

The roadmap is incredibly vague and provides very little info as to what is actually being done in each quarter. What on earth is "adding of the new feature" supposed to refer to.

This seems like somewhat of a cash grab with little planning or knowledge about how it will function properly and be truly decentralized.

I would really like to hear your thoughts about what I have mentioned.

As a side note, are there are any open positions on the team at the moment?

That end portion was a smooth transition bro.

@OP Looks solid, but James does bring up some good points. I would also like to know the backend functionality and if you guys can really handle and host so much data, especially being it's all live and going to be pulling from a million places at one point. Good luck bud.

Regarding the barrier part:
Well on one hand you have CMC who explicitly states that they do NOT take any kind of reimbursement for listing. Also when you come to the "fee" part of the process through an agency that has nothing to do with them, you usually have to pay an absurd amount of money. It's funny how in the hights of the bull market this amount is really high (some examples even report 200k or more) which suggests that the fee has a direct connection to the workload that coinmarketcap has...
Really sounds like these agencies are standalone right? :)

On the other hand, the idea with CryptoToday is the following:
You know exactly what you are paying, how much you are paying, and who and why is getting the funds...
I'd say from a barrier standpoint it is not a question of an alternative barrier but a question of the nature of the barrier...
One USP that we would like to point out is the fact that every project that comes to get a listing on CryptoToday at the same time
incentivizes a community to research the project. This is one thing that can help small but smart projects to get a wider audience.
From our experience (I hope you'll agree) it's usually the useless "meme" or whatever projects that get huge community reactions
and funding... We hope to make an impact on that front also.

Regarding the infrastructure part...
The development team is comprised of people who have a longstanding career in development. Especially the backend devs.
And let's be honest, this is not THAT complicated to build. The backend is a bit harder to set up (DB, APIs, etc.) but
there are far more complicated things that these people have built-in their careers. The smart contract is definitely going for an
audit in a short while so there should be 0 issues with the functionality of the system when we launch and everyone will get the chance to have a look.
Ok now to the whitepaper...
Here I can give some points. The first draft of the whitepaper was too much tech and almost no marketing.
So our marketing guys rewrote it to make it simple. We will definitely make our GitHub public in a short while and there will be a technical paper that
people like yourself can read and have an in-depth look at.
If you'd like to help let's have a chat and see what we can do!

So you're charging to vote? That's the biz plan? The only people likely to vote are scam project owners. I don't see this as a viable plan for listing. The concept might sound reasonable but if you think it out that's the outcome.

Looking over your whitepaper now.

You say the barrier to entry is too high for small projects. If they are worthy projects they are found and find a way to get listed. Your proposal to make barriers too low which might be an entry point for scammers.

Your token is BCT, what is the B for? Why not CTT? BCT is even taken my two projects including Bitcoin Trust. Seems like poor research on your part.

How much working code do you have now? You said the Github is still private so maybe you can give us an idea of how far you are in the coding?

Is this on the Ethereum Network? I don't see which smart contract blockchain you'll be on.

I see a lot of Croatians on the team. Beautiful country btw. But this seems like a project by a group of local college students from IT department. Not that it's a bad thing necesarily. Just asking the origins of this team coming together.

Quote: I want to know how the infrastructure for your backend, coin data, coin price data, etc. will work and how that will be decentralized.

Agreed. That's why I want to know which smart contract blockchain they are on. Basically under their proposal I think that their code would be subject to lifting by anyone to start a competing site or even a cloned blockchain.

Hence my questions about how much code is done. I also believe this project is too early to be an investment.

This seems a bit like an Oracle-like server type blockchain. I don't know, I get the concept, just not sure it can be executed in a viable way. Or that the market will respond to this as useful. Let's say that listings on Google Search were based on votes instead of the Google Algorithm. You'd still have corruption of huge sites spending their wealth to take top position in SERPs. Nearly everything is corruptible.

Gonna point out too that anyone that really wants to aggregate listings they should just use the exchanges, both DEX and CEX. I see nearly no point in listing a coin that's not on some exchange somewhere. Almost all decent exchanges have API's to grab data.

Is this really the best idea this team can come up with?

Hey, can you PM with your overall budget alloted for marketing. I’ll see if I can relay a strategy to kick off this project with my knowledge in Social Media Industry.

I also have connections with leading publications in Crypto/NFT category. I can also trend a hashtag #CryptoToday worldwide for a period of 1 hour in Top 10. There are various other things I can pull off. We can discuss more details over PM.

Is this really the best idea this team can come up with?

Hello Omniscient,
thank you for looking into the project.

We have partnerships with top crypto analysts and early OG crypto supporters that helped us design this for the community, by the community.

So let me answer your questions:

1) We are not 'charging' for vote per-se. We are charging for WRONG voting. And that money is going to the correct voters. We want community members to confirm the accuracy of the listing info such as contract addresses, total supply, circulating supply, etc.
2) Some of our team members worked behind some of bigger listed projects, and many people here can witness too that "finding a way to get listed" is a complicated, "hoping-for-approval", often bribe-involving process. Fully centralized. What we want is to give even small but good projects a chance to get heard of from day zero. I hear you often coming back to "scammy projects" reference. By idea is wrong to establish scammy or not scammy project. You should follow the money. And in our case: no pre-sale; no Venture Capital money (VC), no team tokens unlock for a full year. Transparent and on-chain entire voting economics.
3) BCT token is working name, it was "blockchain". We did research, and were aware of it 'taken'. Luckily, it's not domain-issueing regarding ticker taking. There are many bigger projects that have tickers of already existing projects. Just five days ago Shadow token launched, there was long standing shadow token for some other project. Our token ticker will be LIST. And before tomorrow (when our first public announcement happens), we are about to have it all updated on our media. You are now in early, pre-public stage here, asking OGs for assistance, critique and advice, like you helpfully gave.
4) We are 65-70% there already. We plan to issue the alpha version of fully-functional (but still doing in-house final approval to avoid scams and bots) site within 30 days of our fair launch. So two months away approx.
5) Yes, it will be erc-20 token.
6) Thank you. Actually we have one Chinese just joined and one Japanese in the lead (cryptographer), but the team is mostly Croatian, correct. It's a small country, and we were able to gather top talents easily due to our connections. Our coding leads are leaders of the local IT circles (communities) so we were able to get sort of priority or influence with some of the brightest coders. We are Croatian. Just like in football, we are often underdogs, happy to prove our worth. We fail, we are a shame to the nation. We have a lot at stake. Because in a small country, everyone will ask us, crypto and non crypto "hey, what happened with your project" - I want them to say "hey, we are using cryptotoday.com daily!".
7) our code will be FULLY open for lifting, or using by other competing sites. It's the purpose of blockchain. However, we will do a good job, and fast proactive building trying to fairly (decentralized way) to compete with the market. Not owning the pioneer position at high traffic crypto website then charging crazy sums to get you listed. I've witnessed high quality projects having problems getting listed at popular sites just because they were at bad terms with the listing team. Not really true to the blockchain way (permissionless).
8) great question regarding corruptibility and google search reference. We have made it next to impossible because the OG voters (older voters with proven track record of accuracy, and activity) have higher voting power than the new unproven wallets. Same cost, but bigger the 'weight' to the proven voters.

I hope I answered your questions.

Regarding whether it's the best idea the team can come up with it is kind of arrogant, looking from the top at us type of question.
What I wanted here was to prove: the legitimacy and use of the project. Whether you'll like, support or find idea attractive it's up to your personal decision and opinion. I am grateful though for your concrete and precise questions, taking time to (although if I might notice very briefly) reviewing the project, and asking some very needed critical questions (especially #8, and #4).

With regards,
Edo
