Google Glass may Have Found its Niche
Google Glass was revealed in 2012 to a sea of excited tech bloggers, but when they eventually got their hands on the units, they soon discovered it was far more underwhelming than expected. Now, six years later, scientists at Stanford have been using the long-abandoned technology to help autistic children to read facial expressions. The Google Glass works in tandem with an app to aid the children in deciphering the faces around them. One participant wasn't able to look people in the eye without the aid of the team but can now do so seemingly effortlessly. They have taken to calling this new form of therapy Superpower Glass. >>Source

A Game That can Influence the Emotional Response of Children
We all hear the narrative that video games cause violent children every time a tragedy occurs. However, what if there was actual proof of the opposite? Researchers from the University of Wisconsin–Madison have developed a game that has been shown to raise activity in the empathy centers of the game in as little as two weeks of play. You can see a short demo of the game in the linked source article. Tammi Kral, a lead on the project, had this to say about their discovery“The realization that these skills are actually trainable with video games is important because they are predictors of emotional well-being and health throughout life, and can be practiced anytime — with or without video games,” I hope to see more papers on topics similar to this emerging in the coming months. >>Source

U.S. refuses to back Canada in Saudi Arabia dispute
On 7 August 2018, “U.S. State Department spokeswoman, speaking at a media briefing in Washington, would not publicly condemn Riyadh’s arrest of civil-rights activists in the Mideast kingdom, as the Canadian government did last week.” Heath Nauert, current acting Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs, stated that the United States government will not aid Canada’s defense against Saudi Arabia. She further stated that it will solely be up to Canada and Saudi Arabia to iron out the differences that the whole world has recently foreseen. In a report by Reuters, Saudi Arabia has halted all medical treatment program in Canada and is currently pursuing a transfer of Saudi patients from there to Saudi Arabia. In an act of seriousness, the oil-rich country “expelled the Canadian ambassador, froze new trade and investment dealings with Canada in retaliation for what it called “blatant interference” in its domestic affairs.” In an effort to cut off all ties, they are additionally suspending Saudi Arabian Airline flights to and from their now-opponents and removing approximately 16,000 Saudi students from universities who are studying abroad in Canada, in an act described by Saudi Arabia’s Education Minister to ‘cut its dealing with the Canadian government.’ This feud was sparked by a tweet sent out by “Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and her department that called for the immediate release of civil-rights activists, including women’s-rights advocate Samar Badawi. They also signaled concern over Riyadh’s new crackdown on dissidents.” >>Source

FAIRYTAIL DiceMagic
Fan of RPG style games? Love the weeb life? Fairy Tail has landed a brand new RPG style action game for mobile devices last week. The game will be produced by Fuji Games, a company that has made very reputable games that are currently in the PlayStore and App Store respectively, such as ORDINAL STRATA & Iron man of Cooking. Following the recent news, it’s understood that the game will introduce new characters that aren’t part of the Manga or Anime, the game will go down a filler route. The concept of the app will follow the traditional Japanese style dice game named Sugoroku, which is comparable to that of the western board game, backgammon. Combining Fairy Tail with this traditional Japanese dice game will be Fuji Games’ experiment, so you’ll be learning something not many people play anymore. >>Source >>Source

HDIVE’s new Chromecasting option
If you’re not familiar with HDIVE, you should catch up to speed. Rivaling the big contenders like Crunchyroll, HDIVE is a full blown-legal Anime streaming platform. They are subscription based and fairly popular in Europe. One of the more known aspects of HDIVE is that they have exclusive Anime available to legally stream unlike other services, as well as iOS and Android apps. Last week they announced that Chromecast compatibility is now available with the Android app. This service has been gaining increased popularity, and it looks like they have more updates to come in the near future too. Subscriptions start as little as $3.99, so it’s fairly cheap even to casual or occasional Anime consumers. >>Source

Based on what was officially said, it doesn't seem like he voluntarily stepped down hence "relieved of duty".
