I'm sure this would take some time to implement, and might not really be worth putting the effort into implementing it, but I had an idea for a Chrome version checker that would automatically check if the version of Chrome you are running when you visit HF is vulnerable
(This is assuming the browser you are using is using the Chrome V8 Engine, but there's a plethora of ways you could identify if a browser is using the Chrome engine)
The idea came to me a little while after I finished making this thread:
The Chrome CVE-2025-6554 vulnerability
Regarding the CVE, it's essentially a way to trigger an exploit chain that would allow for various exploit chains to execute on vulnerable versions of browsers that use Chrome's engine, and an exploit chain that is sophisticated enough would be able to compromise a victims computer without them even having to interact with the webpage, they'd just have to visit it and allow the page to load.
While current versions of Chrome are running the v140.* engine, I still think this could be an interesting tool to add to HF to help users who visit the site by gently letting them know that they are running a vulnerable version of Chrome.
If you wanted to store vulnerable ranges or just a minimum safe version per OS, it would be easy enough to do it like this and use an automated script to keep the config updateable:
Ultimately it entirely depends on whether/how you might want to do it. You could rely solely on User Agents to do this, but considering they can be spoofed, personally I'd say relying entirely on them wouldn't be the best way to do this in my opinion.
You could render some kind of warning popup (obviously not a script alert because that'd be annoying) that would trigger when a user visits HF using a browser with a vulnerable Chrome version.
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement something like this into the current HF codebase, but I still think it'd be a cool thing to add if it's feasible enough to implement.
