I greet you with respect, friends from Hackforums, and those who haven’t signed up yet, create a simple account in just two steps, and you'll have a lot to learn from these amazing people. Today, I want to talk to you about Cyber Attacks and how big companies train their employees to prevent them.
Cyber attacks tend to be very problematic for companies, with the average data breach costing companies around $4.45 million. It’s clear that you need to protect your business from attackers as much as possible. And that’s why employee training is a vital part of the process. That’s because, in a lot of cases, cyber attacks use untrained, unsuspecting employees as their entry point. Training your employees can help circumvent that and provide a much better result!

Depending on the company, you can encounter a large variety of mistakes. But the most common mistakes include:
- Weak passwords, which can lead to many security risks and concerns
- Passwords being reused, something that increases the risk of dealing with attacks
- Using outdated software is another problem, as many employees ignore software updates
- Devices are unsecured, and there’s also a lack of anti-malware solutions installed on the device
- Employees click on any link or download any attachment, which makes them prone to attacks
- No multi-factor authentication, encryption, or advanced security methods

Establish a cyber security policy
That’s extremely important because you want to ensure you have a tight system in place to protect data and employees. Aside from creating policies on how to handle incidents, manage confidential data, and work remotely, you also want team members to go through security awareness training. A policy is worthless if it’s just a document; instead, you want it to be adequately enforced via training.
Teach employees about how they can identify security threats
Here, you want to let them know how to protect themselves by not accepting any random requests, clicking on any link, attachment, etc. Once you educate your staff, it becomes easier to create a human firewall that can prevent any issues.
Establish adequate password hygiene
A lot of cyber attacks come from reusing passwords or easy-to-guess passwords, which happens around 80% of the time. That’s why it’s imperative to add multi-factor authentication and also change passwords regularly. In doing so, you have a much better result, and you can avoid dealing with continual cyber-attacks that might become problematic in the long term.

- Invest in device security; it helps quite a bit, and it can minimize device/data loss issues
- Create a backup of critical data, just in case it gets accessed by third parties accidentally
- Use secure email tools to prevent situations when hackers can access/see emails
- Update training programs often
