Brave vs Tor

"In today's world, online privacy is becoming a bigger concern with every passing day. People want to protect their personal information and browsing prints from being tracked and monitored by anyone."
That's where privacy-focused browsers like Brave and Tor come in to play.
In this blog, we will be briefly talking and comparing the two browsers and highlighting some of their pros and cons.
Brave Browser:
Brave browser was developed by Brave Software which was founded by Brendan Eich co-founder of Mozilla Firefox and creator of JavaScript. Brave is a chromium based browser which means it is built on the same open source platform as Google Chrome.
One of the main features of Brave is its ad and tracker blocker. This makes it far less likely for third parties to track your browsing habits. This is especially important in todays world where companies are constantly looking for new ways to track users and show them targeted ads.
Another feature of Brave that sets it apart from other browsers is its cryptocurrency-based reward system.
When you set to view ads on Brave you earn Basic Attention Tokens (BATs). Tokens can be used to support your favorite websites or exchanged for other cryptocurrencies.
One of the cons of Brave is that it is still relatively new.
While it has gained a lot of attention in recent years and has a growing user base, it still hasn't reached the level of popularity of other browsers like Chrome and Firefox. This means that some websites and services may not work as well on Brave as they do on other browsers for instance
Another drawback of Brave is that it isnt as anonymous as Tor. While Brave does block many tracking cookies and other forms of online tracking it still collects some data about your browsing habits. This information is used to improve the browser and its ad system but it does mean that users are not completely anonymous while using the browser.
Tor Browser:
Tor (The Onion Router) was originally developed by the US Navy as a way to protect government communications. It later became available to the public and is now a popular browser for those who want maximum privacy and anonymity while browsing the internet.
Tor works by routing your internet traffic through a network of servers which makes it almost impossible for anyone to track your browsing habits. This means that you can browse the internet without leaving a trail of data that could be used to identify you.
Tor is also completely open source which means that anyone can view and audit its code. This makes it one of the most secure browsers available
One of the drawbacks of Tor is that it can be slower than other browsers especially if you are using it to access websites that are not designed to work with Tor. This is because of the overhead of traffic routing which can add extra latency to your browsing experience.
Another issue with Tor is that some websites may block access to it. Since Tor is commonly used by people who want to remain anonymous, some websites may block access to it as a way to prevent unwanted traffic, although there are ways to work around this issue.
In conclusion, Brave and Tor are both excellent browsers for anyone who wants to protect their online privacy. While they have some similarities, they also have some key differences that set them apart from each other. Which one you choose largely depends on your preferences and how much anonymity you need while browsing the internet.
List of things related to anonymity to keep in mind :
1. Use a privacy focused browser (like the ones in this blog)
2. Use a VPN
3. Use a pseudonym or fake name
4. Limit the amount of personal information you share online
5. Use encryption
6. Use two-factor authentication
7. Delete your browsing history
8. Use a secure password manager
