Posted Sep 4, 2019 08:53 PM
Welcome to how to make a simple effect on any image in photoshop, if you are new to photoshop don't worry this guide will help you along the way with ease, so don't worry if you don't understand the program in any shape or form just make sure you follow each step fully and you will come out with the same result as I have.
We are going to be making a shine effect over an image, this can be on any layer or just the whole image, results look like this.
Example:

First things first, you will want to create a new project, you want to make sure this project will fit your image or text.
My example is 600 x 200:

Next, we are going to add the image to the project, Or you can just add a text layer and write a word as I did for the example.
I had added an outline to my text and an inside shadow you don't need to do this but it does look nice.
Here is what my project looks like:

Now we can make or just add the shine effect. I made mine with just a simple line tool and added a load of glow to it.

If you don't want to make your own, just save the shine image and add it to photoshop and then move on to the next step
Now we can add this shine image to your layer/image, on the bottom right-hand side of photoshop there is a layer tab, select the shine image, hold ALT on your keyboard then drag the layer in between the layer/image you want the shine effect added to there will be a box icon that will have an arrow pointing down.
Your image should look something like this:

Now that you have added the shine effect to your image, we now need to animate the layer to move along the image, to do this we need to make a gif image. On the top of photoshop, you will see a tab menu called window click the tab and at the bottom of the new window, it has opened there will be a tab that says timeline click that and a new window will open up on your project.

Finally, we can add some animation to your image. Select the shine layer and move it to the left of your image.
Then we can press the "create video timeline" layer you then want to make sure you're in frame mode by pressing the button that looks like this
then press the button that looks like this
then move the shine to the over side of the image that way its on the overside. Now you can click the icon that looks like circles
a window will pop up and copy the image below.
