What is a Middleman?

A middleman is an intermediary between two parties who are attempting to start a deal with one another. The main goal of the middleman is to ensure both parties complete their end of the deal. A middleman can be used in a variety of ways, but the process is relatively the same throughout.

General Process of a Middleman

Typically the process of using a middleman is as follows:

1. The Seller and the Buyer agree to make a deal and to use a middleman.

2. The Buyer sends the funds to the Middleman. The Middleman lets both parties know that the funds have been received.

3. The Seller proceeds to perform the specific service or delivers the product to the Buyer.

4. Once the Middleman and Buyer verify the service is complete and all requirements are met, the Middleman will release the funds and send them to the Seller.

That is the general functionality of using a middleman. Both parties use a central member to help facilitate the deal and help make sure both members are satisfied.

Using a Middleman on HF

Using a middleman on HF is relatively a simple process, but the main thing is to make sure you find a reputable member. Adding a Middleman

It's important to find a middleman that you want to work with. Once you find a middleman you want to use, and both parties agree to use that middleman, make sure you read their terms so you understand if they charge a fee and any terms they have. A lot of middlemen have a 2%-5% fee to use them. So whatever the total for the service is you're purchasing, that percentage goes to them. There are some free services out there and some group owners do offer a free service to their members as well.

If you understand the middleman's terms and still want to use the user, the next thing you want to do is message that user and kindly ask if he/she can middleman for you. You should give a brief rundown of the deal (what you're buying, price, and the seller's requirements). If the middleman agrees to assist, go ahead and start a contract. You can start a contract and add a middleman as follows:

Once you start the contract, you'll be taken to your normal contract page. Go ahead and complete the information. At the very bottom, you'll see a spot where you can add a Middleman/Escrow. You can just put in the UID or the profile link. As an example, if you were going to use Komodo as a middleman you could use his UID which is 2119467 or his profile link, which is: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action=profile&uid=2119467

To get the user's profile link or UID, simply click on their name. In the address bar on their profile page, you can copy their actual link or just extract their UID.

After you get the initial parts of the contract completed, continue to the next part of the contract where you will input the terms. Fill out everything with as much detail as possible. When it comes to the terms, be as specific as you can so you can lay out all of the details and refrain from having any hiccups.

When you have completed everything, continue onto the final step of the contract initiation. You'll have a final view of the terms and other pertinent details. Make sure everything is correct and then click Start Contract

Once you have started the contract, both the middleman and the buyer/seller will receive notification that a contract has been initiated. BOTH parties must accept the contract in order for it to be started. From there, the deal will take place and all parties will begin their end of the deal.
