I do not condone nor promote the use of legal or illegal substances. This is created strictly for educational purposes. If you do decide to use LSD, this thread will help you to stay safe and have a good trip.

Introduction

LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide), commonly known as acid, is potent psychedelic. A mild altering drug. It was first synthesized in 1938 by Albert Hoffman while researching lysergic acid derivatives. The main intention of the synthesis was to obtain a respiratory and circulatory stimulant (an analeptic). Other researchers had shown no interest in the substance, therefore it was not mentioned for another 5 years. However, Hoffman could not stop thinking about the substance and was mostly intrigued by how restless the test animals were when ingested LSD, so he decided to take a second look at it. While re-synthesizing the drug, Hoffman accidentally ingested some of the LSD through his fingertips. During that day, he felt the effects of the substance.

Quote:... affected by a remarkable restlessness, combined with a slight dizziness. At home I lay down and sank into a not unpleasant intoxicated-like condition, characterized by an extremely stimulated imagination. In a dreamlike state, with eyes closed (I found the daylight to be unpleasantly glaring), I perceived an uninterrupted stream of fantastic pictures, extraordinary shapes with intense, kaleidoscopic play of colors. After about two hours this condition faded away.

5 days later, on 19th April 1943, known as Bicycle Day, Hoffman decided to try a full dose of LSD. He measured out 250 micrograms and ingested it. Within an hour later, he was overwhelmed by the effects of the drug and had asked his laboratory assistant to escort him home. They took the journey by a bicycle, which is why the day is known as bicycle day. On the way, Hofmann's condition rapidly deteriorated as he struggled with feelings of anxiety, alternating in his beliefs that the next-door neighbor was a malevolent witch, that he was going insane, and that the LSD had poisoned him. When the house doctor arrived, however, he could detect no physical abnormalities, save for a pair of widely dilated pupils. Hofmann was reassured, and soon his terror began to give way to a sense of good fortune and enjoyment, turning his bad trip into a good one. He later wrote:

Quote:... Little by little I could begin to enjoy the unprecedented colors and plays of shapes that persisted behind my closed eyes. Kaleidoscopic, fantastic images surged in on me, alternating, variegated, opening and then closing themselves in circles and spirals, exploding in colored fountains, rearranging and hybridizing themselves in constant flux ...

This has proved to Hofmann that he had indeed made a significant discovery: a psychoactive substance with extraordinary potency, capable of causing significant shifts of consciousness in incredibly low doses.

Test Kits

If you have money for substances, you can spare $20 for a test kit. Your life is worth more than the $20. There is no sure way of telling what you're ingesting is actually LSD, other than testing the substance.

The most commonly used test kits for LSD are Hoffman and Ehrlich test reagants. See image below.

You can test your tab by cutting a very small piece, putting it on a white surface, such as a plate, and using 1 drop of the test reagant. The color the liquid turns into will show you what drug you are dealing with.

It is very important that you test your substances. However, some times you will not have a test kit with you. I still do not recommend taking anything without testing it first, but if you do, pay attention to this detail: LSD tabs have no taste, so if you feel a strong metallic taste when you put it on your tongue, SPIT IT OUT. It is most likely NBOME, a psychedelic that can potentially be fatal.

Effects

Physical effects can include:
dilated pupils
rapid heartbeat
palpitations
elevated blood pressure
increased body temperature
sweating
tremors
tingling in the fingers and toes
dry mouth
dizziness
loss of appetite
nausea

Mental effects can include:
Strong feelings of euphoria
Strong sense of new-found discoveries
Visual hallucinations
Intensified senses, including smells, sounds, and sensations
Sharpened, distorted vision & vibrant colors
Feeling detached from your body, like having an out-of-body experience
Blending of sensory perception (synthesis), like hearing colors or seeing sounds
Distorted sense of time and environment
Delusions
Mood swings
Paranoia and delusions
Anxiety and panic
Mood swings
Fear

It is important to note that no matter how hard you try to explain the effects of psychedelics to someone who hasn't done them, it won't come close to how they will truly feel. It's like explaining color to a blind person.

Dosing

5-15 micrograms: microdose
15> micrograms : threshold
30-60 micrograms : low dose
60-200 micrograms : medium dose
200-350 micrograms : heavy dose
350> micrograms : heroic dose

Most tabs have around 100 micrograms, despite being advertised as much higher. So if you take 2 tabs advertised as 500ug, you did not take a heroic dose, you most likely ingested only 200-300ug. There is no sure way of knowing how much you ingested unless you have a vial of pure liquid LSD.

Set & Setting

It is important to have a safe and comfortable set and setting to minimize risks of a bad trip and maximize the drug's therapeutic effects.
I recommend clearing your schedule for 2 days. One day for the actual trip and the second day for reminiscing and resting. LSD can be exhausting, so it would help if you have another day off to absorb the trip and properly rest.
I recommend having a trip sitter if it's your first time tripping. A trip sitter must be someone you fully trust and are fully comfortable around. A trip sitter isn't mandatory but can be very helpful if things go south. If you have nobody to trip sit you, then I recommend having some benzos around if the trip goes bad.
If you are tripping indoors, make sure your place is clean and tidy, trust me, it will help tremendously.
Have a lot of fun things around prepared for your trip. I recommend getting some RGB LED strips, laser projectors, cool lights. Glow sticks are cool.
Have a notebook and some pens/markers around. Doodling is incredibly fun while tripping, same as drawing.
Have a playlist ready, you can either listen to your preferred music, or I recommend listening to Pink Floyd. It is THE PERFECT trip music.
Have lots of water and snacks around. Fruit is incredibly good on acid.
Before your trip you can leave some ''good vibe'' notes around. This can help remind you that if you get into a bad trip, it will go away soon and that everything is perfectly fine.
Pets are incredible trip sitters.
Playing games on acid is fun. The first time I've done acid I played Rocket League with my friend, the scenery was out of this world.
If you are tripping outdoors, I recommend nature where not a lot of people are around. I'm pretty experienced with LSD, and yet I still don't feel comfortable tripping in public. It's definitely more fun in nature, but not everyone can handle it. Just go with what you're comfortable with.
Bring water, snacks, your phone, headphones and good vibes with you.
It is worth noting that smoking weed on psychedelics can heavily intensify the trip even with experienced psychonauts, so I do not recommend smoking on your first time.

Conclusion

Ultimately the chance is up to you whether you are going to take psychedelics or not. It is not something to be taken lightly. Once you take psychedelics, you will not be the same person anymore. Not in a bad way. Psychedelics take you to a higher level of consciousness and unlock the mind. It's effects are truly powerful, so you have to be careful with it.
If you have a history of schizophrenia in your family, do not take psychedelics.
I recommend doing a lot of research before bringing the decision. Reading a lot of trip reports helped me when I first started considering doing them.
I have posted 2 of my trip reports on HF, feel free to read them:

LSD is still my favorite drug (and I've tried a lot) and for a good reason. It made me become a more open-minded, positive and enthusiastic person.
The LSD subreddit (r/LSD) has a lot of valuable information there, I recommend you hang around there and read other people's experiences.

Safe travels and happy tripping!
