Intro

Hello once again! :)
The reason that I put all of the above mentioned three topics into one thread is that I think is that they pair very well together. Finding inner peace in the current fast-paced and stressful world we live in can be difficult and challenging. Fortunately there are tools that we can use, when combined together, can change your mind-set, help you find peace, and develop a stoicism mindset. Meditation, binaural beats, and positive affirmations are three such practices that complement each other perfectly. They will help you reprogram negative thought patterns, enhance mental focus and help you handle stressful situations more accordingly.

Meditation

Meditation is a very powerful practice than helps reduce stress resulting in lower cortisol levels, calm your mind and enhance your overall well-being. Just 10 minutes of meditation a day can be a game changer! Here is a quick guide on how to meditate!

Find a quiet, safe and comfortable spot - make sure to pick a place where distractions cannot reach you. This can be both indoors and outdoors, whatever works best for you. Just remember, the key here is not to get distracted.

Get comfortable - sit straight, keep a good posture. The key is to be comfortable but also stay alert. You can cross your legs if that helps. Place your hands on your knees or your lap.

Focus on your breath - this part is crucial. Slowly inhale through your nose, hold your breath for about five seconds, and exhale through the mouth. Feel the sensation of the air entering and exiting your lungs. After a couple of minutes, your heart rate will slow down which helps you reach a meditative state. Don't get frustrated if your mind starts to wander, it is completely normal and getting good at meditating takes time and practice. Just keep focusing on your breaths. If that is too hard for you, you can use a mantra (a repeated word or a phrase), or listen to binaural beats which I'm about to explain.

Consistency is key - the benefits of meditation will eventually come to you with everyday practice. I advise you to try and meditate at the same time everyday to build a healthy habit, which will help you concentrate on your breathing and improving your meditation techniques.

Binaural Beats

Binaural beats are an auditory illusion that happens when two slightly different frequencies are played in each ear (headphones are required), which creates a perception of a third low frequency tone. It's a way to align your brainwaves and bring the mind into various states of consciousness such as relaxation, focus and deep meditative states. They can truly do wonders when it comes to calming your mind and bringing you focus. YouTube is a great source of binaural beats and there are different frequencies such as alpha, beta, gamma, theta and delta frequencies, all used for different purposes. Usually these videos have a description of what the binaural beats are for. You can find beats for deep sleep, deep focus, relaxation, pain relief and so on. This paired with meditation is a very powerful tool. Give it a shot!

Positive Affirmations

Positive affirmations are powerful statements that can change your thought process by replacing limiting beliefs with empowering truths. Repetition of these positive affirmations day after day helps to rewire your subconscious mind, ultimately leading to building your confidence, courage, motivation and emotional strength. Whether you are looking for self-improvement, better mental health or a stronger sense of self-worth, positive affirmations may change the way that you see yourself and your place in the world. They work great when combined with meditation and binaural beats. You can either repeat positive affirmations to yourself out loud while doing everyday tasks, or you may put on a YouTube video in the background and carrying on with your day!
