The Viewpoint of Optimism

You've just woken up from a long nights rest, and are cooking yourself some breakfast. Slaving over your bacon and eggs for thirty minutes to achieve a perfect seasoning consistently, it is just about time to sit down and enjoy your meal. As you approach your table, you drop the entire plate on the ground, shattering glass into your flawlessly cooked meal; how do you react?

Although this example may be a more singular example, minor/major tragedies seem to occur on a regular basis. Some of these instances may have been avoided through more attentive measures, but what about those that simply occur despite all the correct signs? Have you ever felt as if everything is finally lining up, or that your choices and decisions just make sense? Imagine withholding the belief that you are headed in the right direction only to find yourself tumbling at terminal velocity further down than where you started. How do you go from here?

You cannot control every event around you, only your outlook and reaction. It is not expected to face the loss of a loved one, a car crash, speeding tickets, etc. and smile as they occur with mere optimism; however, eventually this attitude should be achieved. Over time you must adapt your mindset to view that the occurrence that has taken place is already over. The only direction from here is forward, and life places obstacles in your way to build you into the person you are meant to become. It is easy to find yourself wrapped up in the "why", "how", or the question of, "what could I have done to prevent this". Rather, you must accept that the event has already occurred and begin adapting your perspective.

Each day spent in grief is another day wasted. At some point you must begin building your character and making changes for the future. With a positive perspective towards the occurrences in your life, you will learn acceptance and perseverance. View yourself as a confident strong hold that cannot be broken down. Use turmoil as fuel in the fire of motivation to keep pushing forward and build the life you dream of. Not all of us have it easy, and some face even more difficulty than others. It doesn't matter who recognizes this but yourself, because once you achieve your goals you will personally recognize how far you have battled.

Do not allow life's inevitable circumstances bring you down. Emotions are natural and will help at establishing change, but remember that your outlook defines who you are. Your perspective of the situation can only determine where you are headed. In other words, despite your viewpoint, the same instance has already occurred and will never change. All that can be changed is where you go from there. Continue to build your character and smile off the day to day obstacles that arise in your walkway. See the positive in every situation, understand what you are in control of, and no matter what; keep moving forward

Wonderful advice @Deployed@. I often find myself dreading over past mistakes that I can't do anything about, and what you said is extremely true: You cannot change events, but you can change how you react to them.
If you allow something to generate negative energy into your life then you are just feeding that energy on and it will only get progressively worse. Before it even gets to that point, you have to take a step back and truly analyze certain things in your life. That is what always helped me in my darkest times, a little step back could never hurt :)
