US Greenhouse Emissions are Higher Than we Thought
A new study pegs the United States' greenhouse gas emissions at nearly 60% higher than the Environmental Protection Agency stated. This study points out that previously thought "clean" gasses may not be as good for the planet as we think. This study, conducted by the Environmental Defence Fund, also estimates the leakage of US pipelines at almost double that of the EPA's percentage. Steven Hamburg, a co-author of the paper, says "this is by far the most comprehensive body of research of its kind." This study certainly seems to warrant further research into our prolonged effects on the environment. >>Source

Emotional eating is one of the larger problems in our society. A recent study published in Pediatric Obesity suggests that there is almost zero correlation between it and genetics. Instead, the study claims that young ones learn it by watching how their parents eat, or do not, during stressful situations. “Experiencing stress and negative emotions can have a different effect on appetite for different people. Some crave their favourite snack, whereas others lose their desire to eat altogether when feeling stressed or sad. This study supports our previous findings suggesting that children’s emotional over- and under-eating are mostly influenced by environmental factors completely shared by twin pairs and that genes are largely unimportant for emotional overeating in childhood." says Dr. Moritz Herle. >>Source

2020 Tokyo Games to be fully powered by renewable energy, organizers say
During the 2020 Tokyo Games, the organizing committee aims to power the games using renewable energy, in an effort to pave the path of awareness for a more sustainable society. “All electricity used at all venues will be derived entirely from renewable energy sources, in order to promote decarbonization.” Additionally, the committee in charge intends to use leasing services for their power sources, that way “99 percent of the good procured for the games will be reused or recycled.” The renewable energy aims to target the powering of the “athletes’ village, the international broadcasting center and the main press center.” The renewable energy will be provided by power companies and the installation of solar panels. Though the price is a factor, the main intent of this decision is to cut back on fossil fuels and promote other forms of energy production. The vast majority of products will be rented and leased, however necessary purchases will be made. In regard to plastic bottles and leftover food, the committee aims to recycle at least 65% of all generated waste. The committee plans to execute another project involving the residents, “in addition to an ongoing initiative to create games medals out of metals collected from used mobile phones and other equipment.” The strive for such a clean Games is to promote sustainability among the public and is ‘crucial to pass it on as a legacy,” “an official said.” >>Source

North Korea 'total denuclearization' started; officials see no new moves
On Thursday, 21 May 2018, President Trump released an official statement, where, in certainty, he provided a glimpse of progress inside of the North Korea-United States nuclear deal. He stated that they began progress, further explaining that the country “was blowing up four of its big test sites and that a process of ‘total denuclearization has already started,’ however, officials said that no such evidence has made itself apparent. At the Cabinet meeting, he further stated that ‘They’ve stopped the sending of missiles, including ballistic missiles. They’re destroying their engine site. They’re blowing it up. They’ve already blown up one of their big test sites, in fact it’s actually four of their big test sites.” Upon discussion, Cabinet members were unclear of which North Korean test sites President Trump was referring to, and according U.S. officials who are “familiar with current intelligence on North Korea’s nuclear and missile test sites,” there has been no evidence or movements to undergo the disabling or destruction of any sites since the meeting between the two leaders on 12 June. After continued discussions, the same official spoke on potential targets that Trump could have been referring to. Earlier in May, North Korea was said to have planned on destroying “tunnels at the Punggye-ri nuclear test site and the dismantling of a medium-range ballistic missile test stand at Iha-ri,” although it is not with certainty that this is what the president spoke in reference to. >>Source

Seeing how so many changes are happening within Hack Forums it’s hard to
Keep up to date.

Let’s keep in mind all the new changes take time to get reported.

I know when I was leading the wiki shit was getting done each week.

I don't like rushing recruitment, there's very little "turnover" and I'd like to keep it like that with the main focus being quality Writ3rs. Some may think that's just an excuse but I go through profiles in-depth and do a few things I'd like to not say to anyone (for obvious reasons). Bottom line, it's been working for the most part.

And finally, as I've stated in Memo an edition or two ago, I'm working on a few things (RE: SPARK - Writ3rs related) that take up my free time too.

Cool to read who is getting banned and keeping up-to-date with this type of stuff, unfortunately I never really seem to remember to check out the news, just never comes to my mind and it's not in my routine. Maybe I can subscribe to this subforum or something.
Anyway, great job guys! Maybe if Writ3rs were given access to bans.php then we could continue to see who is taking vacation bans, but I guess bans.php was removed because we're not SUPPOSED to see that stuff.
