Final Fantasy XIV First Fan Festival

Final Fantasy XIV was known as an awful MMO that lacked any substance, then things changed quickly when Naoki Yoshida joined the team and said "scrap all of this rubbish" and created the rather cleverly named "A Realm Reborn". Ever since FFXIV has been known as a fantastic MMO and gained huge popularity across the globe and due to this its very own Fan Festival it to be hosted in three different cities.

Square Enix announced at its Niconico Chōkaigi stage event on Sunday that the MMORPG's first fan festival will be held in Las Vegas, London and Tokyo. Make sure to get your butts down if you're a fan because loot will probably be provided and due to it being the first annual festival, will probably be worth a lot in the future! The festival will pay for itself! The festival is to happen on:

• October - Las Vegas
  October - London
  November - Tokyo

University Course on Boy Band Arashi

That's right, the prestigious Meji University which offers private tuition and is located in Tokyo is offering a class on the boy band Arashi. Although this is the first class dedicated to the band, the class itself, a study of social psychology, has been going on for twenty years and due to students demands on a study for sexuality, the course has previous discussed the band SMAP.

The course syllabus will cover the following topics:

AKB48 Idol to feature in Ao Oni Horror Film

Ao Oni is a independent game made using RPG Maker. The game became hugely successful and popular due to Youtube and has since become world wide famous. 18 year old AKB48 member Anna Iriyama will now feature in Ao Oni's very own feature length film, making her own acting debut.

No need to panic though, Iriyama noted that although she wants to be perceived as "cute" as an idol, she threw this away for the filming of the horror and even told reporters that other band members have played and enjoyed the game. Enjoy the film (and the inevitable translation) in Japanese theatres on July 5th.

Miku-fy your Smartphone!

Fans of Hatsune Miku have had an exciting past few weeks with her now touring with Lady Gaga, but there's more! Piapro have announced this week that they will be undertaking development of two separate Miku apps for Android and iPhone. Although the app has not been released yet, Piapro have decided to give everyone a sneak peek of what the app may look like.

You can follow the app development and view other sceenshots at the Piapro Blog. No official date has been announced for the app as of yet, but keep an eye on the Miku Mobile Page to stay up to date.

Synopsis

In this modern magic action story, Takeshi Nanase is an ordinary high school boy who has a somewhat dark past. Due to certain circumstances, he formed a "fake" couple with his childhood friend Kurumi Isoshima, but otherwise, he lives a normal life. However, one day, he comes across a girl named Mui Aiba, in a uniform he has never seen before, collapsed on the school campus. This encounters changes Takeshi's destiny completely. Mui tells Takeshi that she is a magician, and she apologizes, for she turned Takeshi into a magician, too. What Takeshi once knew as one world is actually two—the world where magicians live and the world where humans live.

Characters


Mui Aiba
The magician who was found by Takeshi that collapsed on the school campus and she accidentally turns Takeshi into a magician.


Kazumi Ida
Kazumi Ida is one of Takeshi's friends who is a wannabe biker so he pretends to be a bully around others. Soon after Takeshi was accidentally turned into a magician, Kazumi was revealed that he is one also (after he came on contact Hotaru's magic). He has a distinct trait of talking with an Osaka dialect.
Kazumi bullies others to make the impression of a typical "superior delinquent student." It is also shown that he has sister complex.


Kurumi Isoshima
Takeshi's childhood friend and his "girlfriend." She became a magician and gained transformation magic.


Takeshi Nanase
The main character. He is an ordinary, yet diligent, high school boy who has a somewhat dark past, and, due to certain circumstances, he is dating his childhood friend Kurumi Isoshima.
He holds a high rank in Kendo. Due to an accident in the past, he doesn't get along well with his family.

My Opinion

I want to start off by saying that this anime had me interested and wanting more after 10 minutes. 10 MINUTES PEOPLE. I really enjoyed the no nonsense approach to the start taken in this series. It was a nice change from the normal "couple episodes to get going" stigma. However, the next couple of episodes do slow down but only a couple. After those couple it picks right back up and gets extremely entertaining. I can confidently label this a roller coaster ride. It wasnt all good though, I have a few gripes. First, the animation was pretty meh. There are times where the animation is lacking a bit and its evident. Its like they spent all their time animating the fight scenes which are really good and rushed the rest. Also, if you are looking for an extremely intricate story line then you might want to look elsewhere. This is a show that the appeal is in the action, not the story. Dont get me wrong, the story is good its just not as detailed as some other shows out there. Overall, I enjoyed this show and recommend it to anyone who likes action.

Interview with Oliver

Unknown: Hi Oliver, how are you today?

Oliver: I'm good, and you?

Unknown: I'm fine, thank you for asking. The first actual question: What is your favorite anime and why is it your favorite anime?

Oliver: Hmm... That would have to be Code Geass. It was the first anime I had ever watched, and it's the reason I got hooked on anime. And it's one of the few anime that actually has a good dub, I actually prefer the dub over the original Japanese one.

Unknown: Hmm... I personally loved Code Geass, but I prefer subs, I may check out the dub if it's so good. I don't think Lelouch's voice is as epic as in the sub though. But let's move on to the next question: What do you think about Vocaloids?

Oliver: Oh, I love Vocaloids, the concept is just really neat, and the songs are pretty swell. I actually typeset a few Vocaloid songs for a guy called descentsubs, and my favorite Vocaloid is probably IA. c:

Unknown: Interesting, IA would be my 2nd favorite Vocaloid since spot #1 is shared between Luka and IA for me. What did you think about the part in the previous AAW where Happeh talked about Hatsune Miku performing as opener for Lady Gaga?

Oliver: It seems like an interesting idea. Not sure how her fans would react to it though, and from what I've heard, the ticket prices are really expensive. However, it's nice to see Vocaloid spreading a bit more to the west.

Unknown: I totally agree, it'll be interesting to see the outcome. What do you think about the current state of the Anime Adventures section on HF?

Oliver: I don't really have that much to compare it with, seeing as I rarely go onto forums, but compared from the section I came from (the griefing section) it's extremely HQ. It's nicely active too.

Unknown: What are your thoughts about its moderator, Tasemu?

Oliver: Quite honestly, I haven't seen that much of him, so I can't really say that much about him, but it seems like his doing what he's supposed to. xD

Unknown: He's pretty busy nowadays, that's why you haven't seen him much. As you can probably see, the AA section has a couple of active people. Do you have any ideas about how we could expand the member base of the AA section?

Oliver: Hmm, that's a good question. The best idea would probably be to get more anime interested people to use HackForums, seeing as the people that are interested in anime and are a member of HackForums would probably already be in the section.

Unknown: That is a possibility, I will now ask the last question: Which anime or manga would you recommend to the readers of the AA Weekly?

Oliver: That's a good question, I guess the manga Shokugeki no Soma is a rather unknown manga that's actually really good.

Unknown: Thank you for your time. Is there anything else you want to say to the readers?

Oliver: Ah yeah, flat is justice.

This weeks loli of the week award has been given to a very cute little vampire, Kobato-chan! Kobato-chan is currently in middle school and is one of the most adorable little lolis out there. So what makes Kobato-chan so cute, you may ask? If you need to ask yourself that after looking at her face, something is wrong with you. She is also extremely close to her older brother (yes, she has a brother complex, curse him) giving her a clingy and jealous attitude when his attention is given to another girl. That's right, a clingy, jealous loli with a brother complex. Bet you wish you were her brother now, don't you? Well guess what? Her cuteness doesn't finish overloading just yet. Kobato-chan has a case of chuunibyou (8th grade syndrome/Middle school syndrome). After watching an anime called 'Full Metal Necromancer', she claims to be a Vampire called 'Reisys VI Felicity Sumeragi' as well as speaking as if she was from the 18th century. However, when Kobato-chan gets teased or emotionally worked up, she loses her character making her a cute bubble of embarrassment.
