Laptop won't start up

When i was starting my laptop. It started updating and then it restarted and now it says that "Windows is getting ready. Don't turn off your computer."
I left it open for like 4-5 hours and it still won't turn on. This has happened 2 days ago too and it had opened after 2-3 hours. Can someone tell me what has happened.

Its Windows 8.1 if that helps.

Do you have the Windows installation CD? Also, can you boot into safemode?
When you say it had opened, do you mean it has turned on?

Now that you've updated us with an unclear post of what's going on, tell us exactly what is happening right now.

My pc has loaded now (I mean now i can use it) it took like 5-6 hours. It's not frozen on the updating screen anymore.

Does it take 5-6 every time when you start it up? If it doesn't, don't worry about it then. Windows upgrades don't tell you a specific time mainly because it takes many factors into consideration which therefore spits out a percent.

Well it happened 3-4 times in the last 3 days i reckon. Well it took at lot of time all the 3-4 times. Almost 4-5 hours on an average. I had to shut it down sometimes and restart again and again and finally it would open after a long time.

I think Null Byte might knows what's wrong. You should PM him and wait for his response.
Good luck.

What do you have enabled on your start up list?

1. Go to the search bar and type in msconfig
2. Startups tab
3. Tell us what you have enabled on that list.
