Currency Exchange Policy Enforced
Many members were abusing and bypassing the restrictions set in the Currency Exchange subforum by posting such threads in the Trader Topics subforum. Omniscient has closed most of the threads violating this existing policy and also moved the Currency Exchange subforum from Secondary Sellers Market to Premium Sellers Section forum. This was meant to clean up the Trader Topics subforum as it had lost its original purpose. Exchanges and trades involving gift cards, crypto currency, or fiat must be posted in the Currency Exchange subforum where it belongs. Members who violate this policy will be warned or banned in addition to having their thread junked.

Testimonial Subforum & Award
A new subforum was created shortly after Hack Forums started getting media attention due to a member of Hack Forums who released the source code to IoT botnet called Mirai. Hack Forums has changed the lives of many in a very poisitive direction and the Testimonial subforum is meant to tell the stories of the many whose lives Hack Forums has changed. An award was created along with the subforum to reward the members. You'll have to get your thread approved before being given the award.

HTTPS Support Added
Hack Forums now runs on HTTPS only after the constant badgering of members asking for HTTPS. Omniscient has forced HTTPS throughout the entire HF community including images and links. You now no longer have to worry about sending through unecrypted data while browsing on Hack Forums so take that tin foil hat off! ;)

No More Anime Porn
For some reason, members thought posting or linking anime porn wasn't against the rules but Omniscient has reminded members that this is not allowed. Members who post or link any pornographic anime will have their account closed. Keep in mind that this is still porn and it doesn't matter if the media is child pornography or not.

Prestige Formula Cracked
Xerotic and Steve have cracked the Prestige formula on how it calculates each member's prestige value. Their thread explains it all, from how they figured it out to explaining what each factor does to the value. Shortly after posting the thread, Omniscient confirmed that the formula is indeed valid.

Poke Ball Award
Similar to the Lucky Clover awards, this new award, Poke Ball, will only be attainable by posting and getting lucky. However, there's a slight difference: the Poke Ball award can only be earned while posting in the Pokemon Go subforum. View the award here.

Member of The Month Suspended
A lot of drama and problems were stirred up from MoTM but that has all come to an end as Froggy has resigned from running MoTM. As a result, Omniscient has decided to suspend MoTM indefinently and has yet to resume. Maybe in the future someone will step up to continue it but there are no indications of that. Closest thing to this was Eclipse's Member of The Year contest that was hosted by Views and Hash G. had won.

Prestige Requirement
To clean up the C/C++/Obj-C Programming subforum from a lot of spammy threads, a prestige requirement was enforced for all non-upgraded members. Members who are not upgraded on Hack Forums must first achieve a prestige value of 5 to be able to post or create a thread in that subforum. This does not affect members who have already upgraded.

Thread Prefixes Added to Deal Dispute Subforum
A minor but efficient change was made to the Deal Dispute subforum. Four new thread prefixes were added to keep the subforum organized. Members are able to use them for their respective purpose and allows visitors to distinguish between each thread's topic.

Trust Scan Changes
A few changes were made to Trust Scan that adds more functionality to it. All members now have access to Trust Scan regardless if upgraded or how many number of posts they have. There is also a new field in Trust Scan called "Last Gauth/2FA Validation" and it is meant to notify users when the last time that member had verified his/her gauth. The idea behind it is to ask the member to verify his or her gauth by visiting the Gauth page and testing the code. When that is completed, the Trust Scan will be updated and output the date it was done. This helps members in deciding if the person they are speaking to is the account owner or not.

Private Data Removed From Orders Database
Since only crypto currency is accepted now on Hack Forums, Omnicient has decided to delete all personal data that was logged previously. Data such as First Name, Address, and Phone were removed from the database and no longer will be logged. With PayPal, there was the possibility of chargebacks however that cannot be done with crypto currency which is the primary reason these records were kept.

February 13, 2016

PayPal No Longer Accepted, Crypto Currency Only
Due to a change to PayPal's ToS/AUP, Hack Forums violates those terms and in return, Omniscient can no longer accept PayPal as a form of payment for awards, upgrades, and such. Now, the only way to upgrade or purchase an award is through Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Dash, or Ethereum. Currency Exchange subforum had been removed before this event and since PayPal was removed as an accepted form of payment, the Currency Exchange subforum was reopened shortly after to allow people to exchange their currency to crypto currency.

Ub3r Application Requirements Changed
Not much written history on the previous requirements but from what we do know is that Ub3r requirements have increased to make it difficult to apply for Ub3r. If you are denied, you must wait 90 days now to be eligible to reapply. Previously, it was set at 60 days. We also believe you had to make at least 100 posts to apply but this has increased to 250 posts. To read the list of requirements you must meet, visit the Ub3r application page.

Morchid Drama and Mods Permission Changes
A day before these changes, Morchid, a former Mentor on Hack Forums, had either been hacked or sold his account. The person controlling the account used his Mentor permissions to move tons of threads all over Hack Forums. Threads such as gaming threads, HF News editions, etc. were moved to the lounge. It was a huge mess that was quickly dealt with thanks to Omniscient's safeguards he had set. After threads were moved back to their original place, Omniscient made changes to the permissions that Mentors and Moderators had. Before this, they were able to move threads but now the only permissions they have is: stick, unstick, open, close, and junk threads. Read more about Morchid's drama here.

IP Change Will Destroy Your Session and Log You Out
Due to accounts being sold and having them share cookies so they wouldn't need to login (and bypassing 2FA), now when there is an IP change while logged into Hack Forums, your session expires and the system will force you to log back in. This is to prevent those who share session cookies and aids in accurate Trust Scan results.

January 22, 2016

Pastebin Embed
A suggestion was made to add the ability to embed Pastebin posts which has been approved and added in under the [paste] MyCode.

January 18, 2016

Inactive Accounts Closed
Omniscient has closed all inactive accounts as stated in the site policies. Accounts that are inactive for 6 months and wasn't upgraded got closed. Those who had Ub3r or L33t were closed if they had 1 year inactivity. These accounts are closed in order to prevent sales of these accounts and prevent the potential of being used to scam members. Keep in mind that these accounts are not recoverable, however the original owner may create a new account to start fresh on Hack Forums.

HackerCraft Comeback
After a year since the original HackerCraft was taken offline, Omniscient has decided to bring back HackerCraft. As of now, HackerCraft was taken offline once again and there's no official word on if it will ever return again.

VIP Subforum Deleted
Earlier in the year, there existed a VIP subforum for upgraded members with lots of tutorials, giveaways, free content, discussions, etc. Omniscient decided to delete the subforum however plans on bringing it back once we're on MyBB 1.8.
