American missionary slaughtered on Indian island
One American man was killed this past week on an island inhabited by a “tribe known to resist outside contact,” located in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The American was later identified as John Allen Chau, a 27-year-old Christian missionary who intended on converting members of the Sentinelese tribe. The tribe is protected under Indian law, and a senior police officer stressed: “that the Sentinelese must be left alone and that any forced contact with the outside world could put them in danger.” Chau’s murder took place on the North Sentinel Island, a part of the Andaman Islands. Seven people associated with the murder have been arrested so far. Of those seven arrested, they are all local fishermen who allegedly helped Chau reach land on the North Sentinel Island.
Police in Andaman and Nicobar provinces have registered a case of murder. An additional complaint was filed in Chennai by the stationed United States Consulate. “The Chennai FIR is a missing persons complaint that was filed at the behest of Chau's mother.” A US Consulate spokesperson said they are aware of the situation and are working their hardest to work closely with local authorities. They further highlighted that the welfare and safety of US citizens abroad are paramount and “one of the highest priorities of the US Department of State.” Sources state that Chau was a missionary that wanted to meet the Sentinelese tribe to discuss Christianity with them. According to Deepak Yadav, one Superintendent of Police in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands Criminal Investigation Department says the fishermen helped Chau reach land, but they did not follow. Later they say the missionary being repetitively shot by arrows. >>Source
Amazon workers walk out on Black Friday over low wages and ‘inhuman conditions’
‘We are not robots’ scream the Amazon employees across Europe who staged on walkout on this past Friday, Black Friday. The walkout is to protest low wages and ‘inhuman conditions’ at the company warehouses. Eduardo Hernandez, a 38-year-old Amazon Spain employee, specializing in logistics said that the action was to negatively impact company profits on the popular shopping day. Black Friday is a day when retailers offer exceedingly discounted deals to seasonal shoppers one day after Thanksgiving. ‘It is one of the days that Amazon has most sales, and these are days when we can hurt more and make ourselves be heard because the company has not listened to us and does not want to reach any agreement,’ Hernandez said.
However, Spain was not the only European country to see these protests. Amazon facilities in Italy, France, the United Kingdom, and Germany were also affected by outraged employees demanding more suitable working conditions and higher pay. Approximately 620 Amazon employees from Rheinberg and Bad Hersfeld, Germany partook in the walkout, where five centers in the United Kingdom protested to fight safety concerns. Tim Roache, head of London=based GMB union said, ‘The conditions our members at Amazon are working under are frankly inhuman. They are breaking bones, being knocked unconscious, and being taken away in ambulances.’ Amazon has denied these claims, stating on Thursday that ‘all of our sites are safe places to work and reports to the contrary are simply wrong.’ Despite the denial of these claims, union heads and Amazon employees are not backing down. Roache added, Jeff Bezos is the richest bloke on the planet; he can afford to sort this out. You'd think making the workplace safer so people aren't carted out of the warehouse in an ambulance is in everyone's interest.’ In a video published by the union targeting Bezos, workers from around Europe stated “we are not robots” in several different languages. >>Source
Amazon discloses customers' personal information including emails and full names
Many customers who use Amazon have been alerted to an alarming email this Wednesday, following an inadvertent technical error which has leaked their email addresses and full names. The severity of this leak is unknown, with Amazon omitting any details on the length of the leak and how the information was disclosed. Amazon has also refused to disclose how many people were affected by this leak and which countries were affected, though it is certain that many people have been affected and reports have come from both Europe and the United States about this worrying email. Though no passwords or highly-sensitive information was leaked, this leak has left many Amazon users in threat of phishing attacks.

Bitcoin prices cause bankruptcy and mining company closures
Crypto markets have been facing tough times with Bitcoin dropping almost 5 times in price from the all-time high and losing an astonishing 23% in value over only seven days. Consequently, due to the dramatic drop in Bitcoin price, crypto mining has also taken a turn for the worse. Cointelegraph has reported that China's large crypto miners have been selling their mining equipment by weight rather than unit, whilst a U.S based crypto mining firm named "Giga Watt" has filed for bankruptcy due to the inability to bounce back from the sudden drops in price. Thanksgiving weekend last year was when Bitcoin began it's large growth to $20,000; however, we are seeing a clear opposite from this year's Thanksgiving. >>Source
Chinese sex doll makers develop advanced AI technology for their dolls
WMDOLL, one of the leading sex doll makers in China, previously launched an AI-powered doll which arrived at the end of 2016. These dolls are able to answer simple questions; however, WMDOLL is aiming to push the development of the AI in order for the dolls to have intelligent and long conversations with the user. This push has been implemented by WMDOLL in order to attract an overseas market for the new technology in countries such as the United States, which account for up to 80% of their exports and almost 50% of their doll sales. >>Source
TOPIC: Do you believe groups are dying or growing? Do they serve a purpose to parts of the community? Are niche gaming groups or business groups valuable?
"If the groups don't stand out or have something special going for them, I think they are pretty much worthless. Groups were way bigger back in the day and it seems like the interest has declined drastically over the past two years. So to say it in your words, I think they're dying."
~Anonymous
"I don't think they're dying; however, they are most definitely not what they once were. Group activity and creativity peaked two or three years ago, and ever since it has been on cruise control. Groups have a pretty neutral standing to me in 2018."
~Lukas
"It may seem like they are dying, but in truth, they're just failed projects that miss their goals. A group with the right members under the right leadership could accomplish so much."

TOPIC: Member of the Month (MOTM) has been put on an indefinite pause, potentially permanently. Do you think there would be a valid reason for this to return? Are there issues you see with how MOTM was ran in the past (if you're familiar with it).
"I think MOTM was great and I'm sad that it's gone. It gave valuable members of the community something for their efforts and was decided by the community. I would like it to return."
~Anonymous
"I won MOTM in 2011, and it really was just a huge popularity contest. If staff were to be involved I could see it becoming a fair contest. I would like to see it return."
~iNviZ
"I really hope this award does not make a comeback. There already many notable ways to get discovered on Hack Forums and an award should not dictate the supposed quality of that person. In this age, I'd put money on it that it would be nothing but a popularity contest. The person with the most awards would most definitely be the victor."
~Anonymous
TOPIC: Tutorials and guides many years ago were a very popular 'doing' for the community. Do you believe that is still the case now? Are those type of threads appreciated, asked for, and/or actively curated?
"Yes, I still find myself addicted to these type of threads and I believe they are in a way the foundation of HackForums."
~Anonymous
"There's actually so many tutorials and guides on the forums that are very High Quality. It's getting hard to find a thread that hasn't already been worked on. I, myself, still love to read up on newer tutorials and have always appreciated the time and effort that goes into them."
~SysAdmin
"I feel like these tutorials or guides turned into methods that are being sold. Instead of giving to the community people are selling. Not that many people are willing to give a high-quality tutorial on a topic for free. When they do come up, they are highly appreciated, and I feel like the OP gets a sort of cred behind their name."

You and me both cracked up at this. Lmfao
Great edition everyone involved, been a while since I've seen the HF news. I always find myself forgetting to check here. :/
@Hydra we've spoke about this before but I think you must have forgot. What did you think about linking new editions to the "HF News - Weekly Reports" thread? I feel it has a lot of members subscribed to that and imo would help get the news reports more coverage.
Nice Edition, great work from everyone 🎉
ya forgot the battle station bit 😝

Not a bad idea, I'll start doing that. Thanks for the suggestion!
