Fueled by Plastic
As I am sure many of you are aware, we have a very large issue with plastic on the planet. This issue is what prompted the research into this breakthrough technique. Researchers with Perdue University have developed a procedure to convert non-reusable plastics into an energy-rich fuel. According to the researchers, the process is not heavily complex in nature “The conversion is achieved using subcritical or supercritical water, which can convert plastic waste into oil, fuels, or gas, depending on the processing conditions. Some impurities in the plastic waste are converted into oil or extracted into the processing water. Both conversion and extraction are achieved in the same process.” >>Source
Great White Sharks Hacked
That is right, the genome of the Great White Shark has been decoded. This endeavor required input from Nova Southeastern University’s (NSU) Save Our Seas Foundation Shark Research Center and Guy Harvey Research Institute (GHRI), Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine, and Monterey Bay Aquarium. The decoding of it has revealed just how massive it is, being one a half times the size of the human genome. This also has large medical implications. It was found that the Great White Shark has genetic adaptations to combat cancer. We will all have to keep our eyes peeled for further developments in this story. >>Source

The Senators received from Columbus for Duchene forward prospects Vitaly Abramov and Johnathan Davidsson and a 2019 first round pick. Ottawa also shipped off Ryan Dzingel who this season currently has 22 goals and 22 assists for 44 points in 57 games, Ottawa received from the trade Anthony Duclair and two 2nd round picks. Most notably being shipped off from Ottawa is their leader in both goals and assists Mark Stone. Who this season has recorded 28 goals and 34 assists in 59 games. Ottawa will also receive forward Oscar Lindberg and a 2nd round pick which belonged to the Dallas Stars for the 2020 NHL draft.
Other notable trades include Mats Zuccarello, a 31 year old who has spent all of his career till the trade deadline with the New York Rangers and was seen by a lot of the New York fans as a favorite. Zucarrello in the 17-18 season for the Rangers put up 16 goals and 37 assists for 53 points in 80 games. This season Zuccarello has put up 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points in 46 games. The Rangers received a 2nd round pick in 2019 and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2020. Unfortunately for the Dallas Stars during his first game with the Stars Zuccarello who had already recorded 3 points in the game for his team hurt his hand and is now required to have surgery and is out a minimum of a month.
Manny Machado signs with the San Diego Padres
26 year old all-star and third baseman Manny Machado signed a record breaking $300,000,000 contract with the San Diego Padres. This contract is currently the third-largest sports contract in the world. The 26 year old super star recorded a total of 188 hits, 37 home-runs and a batting average of .297 split between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Baltimore Orioles last season. Machado's contract is 10 years for $30,000,00 a year, the second largest in MLB history behind Giancarlo Stanton's 13 year $325,000,000 contract. With this signing the struggling Padres hope to revitalize their franchise and their chances at being a contender for the title. With this addition of Manny Machado they are already expected win a total of 10 more games in the upcoming MLB season.
Duke Star Zion Williamson Suffers Major Injury
Duke star and current expected first overall pick in the 2019 NBA draft Zion Williamson was injured in a game last Wednesday against rival and opponent North Carolina. In the opening minutes of the game the Duke star was seen to have "exploded out of his shoe" as he was going for an aggressive drive and his left shoe split and his foot fell out of the shoe causing him to go down with a knee injury. Duke's head coach Mike Krzyzeski has expressed to media that he is optimistic of Zion's return and hopes that he can be back soon. Williamson has averaged 21.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 2.2 steals per game for the current 24-3 Duke squad.
Zion's injury has also spiked discussion on the ongoing debate of lowering the NBA's draft age from 19 to 18 allowing seniors out of High School to be eligible to be drafted in the NBA draft. Since 2003 the NBA has made it mandatory that you must turn 19 before you can go into the NBA draft, allowing colleges then to pick up, up and coming players for their teams and allowing College basketball to thrive with these future stars playing under the banners, if only for one season. The NBA proposed officially lowering the age required to be drafted to 18 last Friday and is awaiting approval from National Basketball Player's Association.
US Technology Firm stops the sales of DNA collection equipment to China
Biotech firm "Thermo Fisher" has recently announced that it will stop providing all equipment to Xinjiang, a province within China where the authorities have launched a statewide campaign to monitor its citizens. By using this DNA, the authorities in China were building a large comprehensive database to penalise citizens who defied the system. People within this province have reportedly been imprisoned in camps according to multiple sources, though many civil rights activists have described the conditions of those defilers who have been sent to the camps similar to those of concentration camps. Thermo Fisher's decision was based upon their ethics code and policies, which were evidently broken by the Chinese government whilst misusing their DNA tests to build this database. Whilst not giving a full statement on the issue, Thermo Fisher has announced: "As the world leader in serving science, we recognize the importance of considering how our products and services are used – or may be used – by our customers." >>Source
Trump urges internet providers to roll out 5G and "6G" networks
In a recent tweet by Donald Trump, it was stated that he wants the United States to push for 5G and a not yet existent "6G" as soon as possible. He has stated that "American Companies must step up their efforts, or get left behind", whether this statement will have an effect on any internet provider pushing the launch of 5G networks nationwide is questionable. Some American internet providers such as Verizon has already started offering 5G home internet in a few cities, yet it isn't the 5G global standard, rather Verizon's own technology. Trump complained that "There is no reason that we should be lagging behind", perhaps in comparison to few countries such as South Korea which have launched a commercial 5G network in this past year in Seoul and 6 other major cities; along with Deutsche Telecom launching 5G in Poland in Dec 2018 with the help of Huawei Equipment. >>Source

NVIDIA Launches GTX 1660 TI Graphic Card
On February 22nd NVIDIA officially launched their GTX 1660 at the price of $279 USD. This card was released to be a middle ground to their also recently released cards the RTX 2080, RTX 2070 and RTX 2060. Unlike the previously mentioned cards the 1660 unfortunately does not have ray tracing or DLSS but, this card does come with good FPS rates. A bookmark by gsmarena.com shows that on 1080p high quality settings the 1660 is averaging 103-123 frames per a second on the game Apex Legends. This outranks other cards such as the GTX 1060, GTX 1070 and falling just short of the bookmarks of the 1070ti. It's recommended for players who wish to pick-up a good graphics card at a good price.

TOPIC:Did you watch the Superbowl? Who were you rooting for?
"Patriots baby! New England born and bred; it's treason for me to root for any other team!"
~Disease
"Yes, I watched the superbowl. I was not a huge fan of either team however everybody that I was watching the game with was rooting for the Patriots so I decided to go for the Rams."
~Elysium
"Watched it. Didn’t care who won, just wanted to see a good football match. I was not impressed"
~Lavish Living
TOPIC:Who is your favorite Hack Forums member? Who's your least favorite?
"Tough, Orgy or Haxalot for favorite. No least favorite- why care to that extent?"
~Disease
"My favorite member is definitely Vitani. He is always willing to help and has been a nice person to chat with during every interaction I have had with him. My least favorite member is CryptoGeek(BANNED)."
~Elysium
"Favorite is Omniscient because I’m a kiss ass. My least favorites are Nuworld (old ass grumpy man is way too serious), Shelob (annoying af), and JimmyK/“DEAL” (annoying and an idiot)."
~Lavish Living
TOPIC:If you were given a Hack Forums group for free, what would you do with it?
"We've been missing a well-run, engaged group that focuses on various facets of programming and design. I'd build a group around that, bringing together developers and designers, to further skillsets and contribute to the community."
~Disease
"I think it would be nice to open a group up to focus on quality over quantity, helping forum members whenever possible, and creating a relaxed and friendly environment where group members can help each other in a multitude of topics. I'm not necessarily set on any one topic, in fact I think it would be good to have a few active members from different sections around the forum. I like ideas from different groups that I am apart of. For example, the activity requirements from Sociopaths, the assignments from Samaritans(can be as simple as wishing somebody happy holidays or more complex like making a tutorial in your respective section), the friendly banter and environment of wolfpack, the dedication to recognizing members who do something good from Infamous. I'd like to incorporate a lot of specific ideas that I think make each group excel."
~Elysium
"Make a custom donation for a custom user group color, make it bold and stand out and be the only member in it so I look special af. Also get the dopest gif userbar."
