An ode to...
To those scratching your heads wondering where the Writers Tales forum went, it is still here. Now located in the Personal Life category under the Common tab, you can still share your awesome poems and stories. The Writers Tales forum was originally a sub-forum in The Lounge, but with the implementation of the new Meme Shit Meme sub-forum, it was moved elsewhere.
Armed Up and Ready to Go
Many people disliked the idea of adding a PUBG section to the forum, while others supported the ideas. In the end, it is always up to the big boss himself, Omniscient. Lucky for those who enjoy playing PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, there is now a new section to discuss tips, cheats, and everything about PUBG in the new PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds forum. >>Source
She Said Yes!
The age group on Hack Forums is all over the place. You have people as young as 13 browsing the forum, all the way to people over 25. With that being said, anything could happen. Most recently the user, Froggy was proposed to in what she thought was a VR promotional video for a company that her fiance (BF at the time) was working with. She was asked if she would like to volunteer and give the game a test run to see how things felt. Not thinking anything out of the ordinary, she agreed to it. Little did she know what the actual reason for testing the game was. In the thread that she created, Froggy uploaded a video of the whole proposal. At the very beginning of the video you are greeted with her wearing the VR glasses and a TV screen displaying the menu screen of the game saying, "The Question". When she entered the game, it displayed her living room with the TV playing. It had everything correct including where the couch was, all the way to the Kill Bill poster on their wall. Soon enough, a strange object came down from the sky and surprised her. With hearts flying around in the game, she had no idea what was going to happen next. She was then proposed to where she said yes! She even said she missed every clue in the thread she created which is a bit funny because all of the hints were fairly obvious! Congrats, girl! Check out the video here. >>Source
.Sinister: Froggy, welcome to the 355th edition of the HF News. Do you have any shoutouts you want to make before we begin? Froggy: Sure, why not. Some shoutouts to Chief., Cynn., Orgy, BV1, Funtela, and Mr. Robot. Shoutout to all the haters too, love ya. But no shoutouts for Formula1.
.Sinister: Haha. I know you recently took a break from HF. Could you tell us a bit about your break and what you did? Froggy: I asked to be closed a while back because I thought my time on HF needed to come to an end. I needed the time to deal with some things IRL. It was great to take a break but I know I'll always come back.
.Sinister: If you don't mind me asking, what made you come back? Froggy: The people. Despite all of the negativity that I encounter on HF, the few good members are worth it. I feel that I've made some life long friends on this forum. I'll always come back for them.
.Sinister: I completely agree with you. I heard you recently got engaged. Congratulations! What was going on in your mind when you realized it was a proposal? Froggy: Oh my gosh, haha. The entire time I was just confused, like "when is the game going to start?" When it said to remove my VR headset, that's when it hit me, and I don't really know what was going on in my mind aside from "YES!" Like, stop talking, just yes. I totally cut him off in excitement.
.Sinister: Aww. I'm really happy for the both of you! All the best to the two of you! Do you have an idea of what you want your wedding to be like? Froggy: It will 100% be video game and geek themed. The officiant will be reading out of a modified Legend of Zelda book and I wouldn't be surprised if my fiance wants to walk out to some Star Wars music. We will have about a hundred people attending, even some HF members. We'll either live stream it on Twitch or post a video afterward. I'm so excited, it's going to be great, but most of all I'm excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
.Sinister: Ah, that sounds super fun and exciting! I hope everything goes well! Should the HF community be expecting a mini-froggy sometime soon in the near future? 🎉 Froggy: Perhaps early 2019. 😊
.Sinister: We can't wait to welcome him/her in 2019! It seems like you're ready to start your own family! Do you think your life would change dramatically with the introduction of a new family member? Froggy: Absolutely. Both my fiance and I are all about work, work, work. Once Player 3 joins the party it's going to be a huge shift in focus. I may have to stop working and become a stay-at-home mom. It's both scary and exciting to think about.
.Sinister: That's true. I understand that once he/she comes that you two will have to focus most of your time and energy on him/her. Do you think it would be better for the two of you to have some time together after your wedding and have Player 3 a few years later or are you ready to start a family quite soon? Froggy: I'm ready to start a family right after our honeymoon to Tokyo. I think we'll end up with a 4-player game within the first few years.
.Sinister: Wow! Haha, looks like you two will be busy. Froggy, thanks for your time! Unfortunately, that's all we have for today. Is there anything else you would like to say before we wrap this up? Froggy: Yeah, whoever actually reads this interview, PM me for a joke. It'll be fun.

Freelance Journalists?
Got an idea for a section in the news that you want to do? Think it'll bring a lot of attention to it? I'm going to give this idea a shot and see how it plays out. PM me with a GOOD idea (Forbidden: Anime News) and I'll consider it. What you get in return is your own section in the news and possibly group access. All depends on how active you are. If you submit your section once a month, chances are you won't be added to Writ3rs.. Oh! Get creative, no limits. Think of stuff that isn't generic (Gaming, Tech, blah blah boring...). Ok. Thanks. Bye.
Update: One new section coming soon. Throwback.
Half of the Milky Way Galaxy may Have Come From Other Galaxies
According to newly run simulations by the University of Edinburgh, researchers believe that up to half of the gasses in the Milky Way galaxy could have come from others. This gas is significant because it provides the basis for everything created in the galaxy, it is fairly likely we wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for this. This collision and swapping of gas have been described as a "dance" by astronomer Romeel Davé of the University of Edinburgh. Davé goes on to say "that dance, and the subsequent exchange of atoms, could be what establishes a galaxy’s character — whether it’s small or big, elliptical or spiral, quiet or bursting with star formation. If the simulation results are confirmed with observations, it could be a major advancement in understanding galaxy formation." >>Source
Potential Ingredient for Alien Life Found on Titan
This is a fairly straightforward one, but interesting nonetheless. Titan, Saturn's moon, now has a stronger possibility of housing alien life than ever. The compound vinyl cyanide has been successfully detected in the moon's atmosphere. There is enough of it on Titan to create around 10 million cell-like balls per cubic centimeter of liquid-methane ocean while on Earth about a million bacteria are found in a single cubic centimeter of ocean water near shore. However, Titan lacks one of our thought requisites for life, water. What it lacks in water can be made up by liquid methane, it even has a methane cycle which is similar to Earth's own water cycle. >>Source
Chromatic Breakthrough in Plant Breeding
Among chrysanthemums, a major breeding breakthrough has been made. Researchers have finally been able to breed a true-blue flower, which is a flower that lacks any trace of purple among its buds. There are only a few true-blue species that occur naturally. This coloring has been particularly difficult to reproduce because of the required atomic makeup of the petals. This particular makeup was achieved by a scientist in Japan who inserted two separate genes; one from a Canterbury bell and the other from a butterfly pea. This was just what they needed, and the chrysanthemums bloomed true-blue. >>Source
The United Kingdom has Removed More Than 150 Citizenship's From Jihadists and Criminals
More than 150 suspected jihadists and criminals have had their citizenships stripped and have been banned from returning to the UK. Ministers have increased the “deprivation orders” in fears that the collapse of the Islamic State (IS) would lead to a sudden influx of militants from Syria. Those that have had their citizenships stripped include gunmen and “jihadi brides” who had traveled to Syria. All of those removed were of dual nationals including British-born people with parents of different nationalities. The government has not removed those who are only British, claiming that they are not allowed to remove citizenship from people if it left the suspect stateless. Speaking to the Sunday Times, a senior security official said: “There’s an awful lot of people we have found who will never be coming home again. Our number one preference is to get them on trial. If we don’t think that’s possible, we use disruption techniques.” >>Source
Lethal Clashes Amid Election Tension in Venezuela
Venezuela's election assembly has been left in bloodshed after a controversial new assembly was disrupted in violence. With many protests across the country, there have been numerous reports of death. Those killed include an opposition youth leader, a pro-government candidate and a soldier. The government wants to elect a new constituent assembly with the powers to rewrite the constitution and even override Congress. The opposition has remarked at how it is a power grab by President Nicolás Maduro and many were boycotting the vote. President Maduro has reportedly said that he only wants to restore the peace to the country after many months of protests and a political stalemate between the opposition and himself. >>Source
South Korea Birth Rate has Plummeted
South Korea birth rate has reportedly fallen to a record all time low. Despite the economic growth and tourism budding, South Korea's population is at the slowest rate ever recorded and reports have noted this year could be the lowest in birth rates, despite the efforts to boost it. Around 360,000 babies will be born, leading to a very large concern over the economy with an aging population. Officials have been currently blaming on the rising youth employment, but many couples have argued this fact, instead pointing fingers at the rising cost of living, including housing and soaring education prices, meaning that having a large family is no longer an option. Women particularly have concerns due to weak maternity-leave policies and a stubborn resistance by men to help with the housework. It is the first time birth rates have fallen below 400,000. The death rate in South Korea is around 295,000 a year (which was estimated from the 2016 figures), so unsurprisingly the South Korean government is concerned. >>Source
You May Soon Be Able to Link Your Android Smartphone to Your Windows 10 PC
Innovation mammoth Microsoft uncovered its designs of making Android cell phones and iPhones work with Windows PCs better. What's more, with most recent Insider Preview work of Windows 10, those plans appear to be inspiring nearer to getting to be a reality. The newest 16251 Insider Preview work of Windows 10 incorporates the usefulness of cross-gadget browsing between Android cell phones and Windows 10 PCs, enabling users to link both devices.
To the extent iPhones are concerned, Microsoft has said in an official blog entry that the component is touching base with them soon. Although, there is no fixed date for the same yet. >>Source
Apple CarPlay is Coming to Select Mini and Aston Martin Models
Apple's car infotainment framework CarPlay is coming to two new premium makes Aston Martin and Mini. 9to5Mac saw that the CarPlay page on Apple's site was refreshed today with new models from the European producers.
For Mini, CarPlay will arrive a little later this year in the Tech Pack or Media Pack XL trims of the 2018 Countryman and 2018 Clubman. That implies it still presumably won't be going to the current models, much to the mortification of our own Thomas Ricker, who found the 2017 Countryman ailing in the infotainment office.
On the Aston side of things, CarPlay will be accessible in 2017 Vantage, Vanquish, Rapide, and DB9 Volante. These new increments are slight increases to an effectively great run down because CarPlay is presently available on more than 200 distinct models crosswise over almost 50 makers. >>Source
Microsoft Now Lets Developers Test Windows 10 S
Microsoft is discharging Windows 10 S, another Windows variation intended to just run Windows Store applications, to MSDN supporters today. The new working framework will be accessible in an ISO file so developers can download and install it to test their applications on Windows 10 S. In particular, Microsoft needs education-focused developers to legitimately test Windows 10 S to ensure it is prepared for that specific gathering of people. This is likewise an initial move towards making Windows 10 S all the more comprehensively accessible to schools, as Microsoft guaranteed back in May. >>Source
Destiny 2 Exotic Weapon Coldheart Revealed
A brand new rifle will be obtainable to those who pre-order Destiny 2 up until this December. Titled, Coldheart, the rifle fires out a chilly, cold laser. The senior gameplay developer over at Bungie, Jon Weisnewski, described the gun as a "trace fire". When using the gun, it deals damage over time as opposed to instantly. Fairly often in most modern day video games, you have to take into account the recoil of guns. This is true for the Coldheart as well. Weisnewski says that you have to manage the recoil for precise damage. Labeled an exotic weapon, Coldheart is part of the new breed of weapons that Bungie is trying to introduce in their game. >>Source
Walmart Canceling All Early SNES Classic Pre-Orders Due to 'Technical Glitch'
How frustrated would you be if you had the chance to get a SNES Classic Edition, but then were told your order was canceled? Unlucky for some people, this was the case for them. The actual release date of the device is set for Sept. 29. Walmart accidentally listed the SNES Classic for pre-order way too early on July 21. Many people saw the offer and purchased the deal. Later the next day an email was sent out stating that there was an error and that the listing of the SNEC Classic Edition was not even supposed to be posted that early. Those who paid with credit cards had their purchases canceled, and the people who paid with their PayPal account will be receiving a refund shortly. There is no set date on when the pre-order will open but constantly checking the website in Sept. is what the senior director of Walmart, Deserie Dulaney, says. That email alone does not make up for the feelings that these customers are going through. Other than the apology email, customers have not received any discounts or rewards for the trouble. >>Source
The Elder Scrolls: Legends Arrives on iOS and Android
If you are looking for a new mobile game, here it is. Sadly, it is not what you are expecting. Were you expecting an RPG for your phone? Well, sorry to say that is not the case. The Elder Scrolls latest game, The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a brand new strategy card game. It is free to download on the iTunes App Store and Android Google Play Store. The game itself includes characters from past games and even offers exclusive packs that you can unlock and collect by purchasing. Originally, the game was beta tested on the computer before making its way to being an iPad exclusive. Legends is a very similar to strategy card games like Hearthstone and Magic: The Gathering, but what makes it unique is the use of "two lanes" instead of one. By lanes, it means the place where you set your cards down on the field. In Legends you now have two lanes where you can place down cards. This means if you really wanted to rain hell on your opponent, you have two lanes to do so. >>Source
470° Transgender Dev Strikes Back Against Trump's Military Ban With RPG Title 'Bloom: Memories'
Described as the first transgender playable character in history, Bloom sets out to support the LGBTQ community. Ivory (Dani) Landers planned on developing this game soon after President Trump decided to put a ban on transgendered individuals from joining the United States military. In actuality, the game itself has been in development for over five years now. But the changing of the main character to being transgender is what is most recent news about the game. The game features Ilana who happens to be the main character. In the story, you get the chance to see her before and after her transition. A Patreon page was created to support the game so that they can raise money to hire voice actors and many other things needed for the completion of the game. Do you think this is an F.U. to the President or something that will fly right over everyone's head? >>Source
Doomfist is Live
Previously only available on the Overwatch PTR, which is Blizzard's Overwatch testing servers, Doomfist finally makes his debut in the Overwatch live servers. Released on July 27, this hero brought a big punch to pool of heroes you could select. Already the mighty warrior has a bunch of skins you can unlock and choose from. To see them, click here. Doomfist can provide a lot of things to the field. He is a melee champion so expect to face him head on in CQB (close quarter combat). His mobility allows him to strike fast and quick, and he is not one to reckon with. One of Doomfist's ability is Hand Cannon. He fires a short burst of bullets from his knuckles. Yep, you read that right. A melee champion that can shoot out of his hands. Weird, right? The ammunition regenerates over time. Depending on how much ammo you have saved, it shoots faster (of course that sounds like common sense), but when you rarely have any bullets saved, and the meter is regenerating, you will be firing off fewer shots. This ability alone has enough power to kill an enemy with 200 HP. Up next, we have Rocket Punch. This ability charges Doomfist's right hand. After charging up, Doomfist lunges in the direction he is facing, knocking any enemy back in his way and dealing additional damage to any enemy that hits a wall or object after being hit. His third ability is an uppercut called Rising Uppercut. Not dealing too much damage, but a good crowd control, the uppercut deals only 50 damage to the targeted opponent and knocks them in the air. While knocking up the opponent, you also jump in the air too, giving you a vantage point to look at your surroundings and strike from above. Lastly, his ultimate. Meteor Strike is Doomfist's ultimate and this is where he really packs that punch. Doomfist jumps high into the air, once in the air he leaves a reticule on the floor where he will land indicating who he will be striking, and dealing 300 damage once he strikes the ground. Those on the outer circle of the reticle will receive reduced damage and knocked away, while those inside take the full on 300 damage. >>Source
CowerSnail — Windows Backdoor From the Creators of SambaCry Linux Malware
From the creators of the malware SambaCry, the unknown hackers who developed the Linux malware are back again, but this time with malware that targets Windows computers. Originally intended for Linux devices, SambraCry exploited Linux devices by exploiting a vulnerability in the Samba networking software. The purpose of the exploit was to gain control of the computer and turn it into a cryptocurrency miner. Most recently the SambaCry developers have recompiled a version that is compatible with the Windows operating system. The name CowerSnail was given by Kaspersky. If you have Kaspersky anti-virus program, the SambaCry for windows would show up as, "Backdoor.Win32.CowerSnail". Unfortunately, if successfully executed on your Windows device, hackers will have the ability to execute any command on your computer. The way that the security researchers who looked into the CowerSnail malware determined that it was related to SambaCry was based on the fact that it shared the same command and control server as SambaCry. >>Source
Teen got arrested for Altering Ticket Prices
You have heard crazy stories of people doing stuff to get free tickets to travel around the world. Well, this is not one of those "cute girls sell their bodies for plane tickets" type of story. A teen was able to edit the information on a Budapest transportation website where he was able to buy tickets that originally cost $35, for two dollars. He found the flaw by editing HTML in Chrome Developer Tools, allowing him to change the prices. He even said that any person with basic knowledge of coding was able to do this. Soon after finding the flaw, The young teen who remains unnamed reported it to BKK which is the Centre for Budapest Transport. The Centre for Budapest Transport had contacted the police who later arrested the teen for what is said to be a cyber attack on their systems. The teen who did this was said to be a white hat hacker, reporting the flaw for good and not to abuse transportation costs. Centre for Budapest Transport allegedly stated that they found this man on their own and completely lied that the teen who had done all of this was actually helping them. This information got out to the press that Centre for Budapest Transport was lying and a battle erupted on Twitter. People tweeted at @bkkbudapest saying harsh words and even rated the group page on Facebook with one-star. No information on whether or not the teen was released or charged was released. >>Source
Google Detects Dangerous Spyware Apps On Android Play Store
Android and malware have come face-to-face to battle for a long time. It is no fun when your mobile device gets infected because you have countless things on your phone that you want to keep private. From photos to text messages, hackers can obtain and steal your information with ease if you are not careful. That is why you should always take precaution when downloading apps from the Android Play Store. A new virus makes its way to the Play Store given the nickname, "Lipizzan". The nickname was given to the malware by Google. They state the virus can steal "text messages, emails, voice calls, photos, location data, and other files." Not only that, but it can spy on the infected user to see what they are doing. With the help of Google Play Protect, which acts as a security defense for your Android device, it was able to spot many different applications that had the infection written in the code. Those infected apps were quickly removed from the store and also informed members that downloaded those specified apps about what happened. To protect your device from infections, please follow these steps from the Android store:
Ensure that you have already opted into Google Play Protect.
Download and install apps only from the official Play Store.
Enable 'verify apps' feature from settings.
Protect their devices with pin or password lock.
Keep "unknown sources" disabled while not using it.
Keep your device always up-to-date with the latest security patches.
This is very cool, first forum that I see that has this. I didn't read every section (as I have no interest in some of it) but this is a nice way to stay informed, thanks!
